It's exactly what I said it was. That's what a punch in the ribs when you have the ball and are meeting a tackler that won't be able to stand you up is called - closed fist tackle. If the hand is open, the game isn't even stopped. If it's closed it's called a closed fist tackle and is a free or yellow card depending on ref interpretation. As I said, if you don't know that then you just don't know Galway? Ha wicklu (Wicklow) - Posts: 331 - 01/09/2019 20:26:21 2231494 Link 4 |
What a great game. Kerry were excellent and I expected nothing less but we have the most room for improvement. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8591 - 01/09/2019 20:35:00 2231500 Link 10 |
I would expect a Kerry fan after winning so many All Ireland's to know the rules . Go read Rule 5.6 of the GAA Football Rules. It's quite clear in fact it states in an earlier rule that the ball must be flicked away with the open hand. These aren't my rules they're in the rule book. Go have a quick read then come back with a retraction. This goes for everyone else that has said a tackle with the closed fist isn't a free. Rule book is on line read it.

I personally would like too see the replay down in Thurles. But unfortunately GAA have Corporate boxes and seats reserved for finals. Surely though a semi final could be held outside of Dublin, say Thurles or Clones. And the corporates given vouchers for compensation. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2519 - 01/09/2019 20:42:50 2231505 Link 1 |

Eh? a number of Kerry forwards did perform today. When watching back on that game today do you think the likes of Clifford,O'Brien and Geaney will be happy with their scoring return?

You need to apologize to JohnnyFox it is in the rule book Rule 5.6 of the Official Football rules. There's no such thing as a legal closed fist tackle. It isn't a card of any sort for the first but it is after that. Go have a read the rules are online

Funny...that is exactly what Kerry have done today...had their chance...with Dublin a man down, their best players not performing AND Gough in their pocket and they blew it.

O dear you sound upset. Kerry choked today, extra man for more than half the match & couldn't finish the Dubs off. Mayo were never handed a opportunity like that. So I guess I can understand your bitterness. Good luck in the replay.

No one can argue he was in any way able to handle Clifford, aside from the 2 yellows if you watched sky who properly analysed the game (even with a dub and a Kerry man there) he was warned 3 other times about his persistent fouling. They also all agreed the second yellow was correct

O shea or McCaffrey either for motm they both were just excellent. Absolute joy to watch . Take McCaffrey out of today's game dublin would have lost. Take o shea out of today's game kerry would have lost. Can't say that about any other player on either team (I think comerford is actually a fantastic goalie so that's the only reason I wouldn't include cluxton)

The record, sadly, says otherwise my friend.

That's what the official announcement was. That all the ball wasn't in. Remedy it was given by umpires and ref only the tv officials called it to bring refs attention to it.

Cluxton's two saves could very well prove be the difference in winning the 5 in a row. mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 1044 - 01/09/2019 21:07:59 2231527 Link 0 |
Was Dublins doggy full back line exploited by the Kerry forwards?

Congrats to the Cork minors by the way. What a pulsating minor game, and while I'm obviously disappointed for our lads, the spirit shown by Cork was inspirational. Between both games, football finally got a day worth talking about for all the right reasons. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3097 - 01/09/2019 21:42:03 2231555 Link 1 |
