This is the second year they were beaten at under 17 level - maybe U 18 suited them better.

Laois won 2 in a row 1996-97 that I remember. Derry did too i think in the 1980s?

Very hard to make a case for Kerry to win this one. I think they have had a great season and have some of the best young footballers in the country but Dublin are a step too far at the moment. Kerry have the makings of a great side but I feel its going to be another couple of years before they can beat Dublin. If Kerry can get their defence sorted out, they will be a serious force in the future. Green_Gold (Donegal) - Posts: 1873 - 11/08/2019 22:46:50 2224339 Link 0 |
If Tyrone had 1 or 2 more scoring forwards they would have beaten Kerry handily enough. Dublin will win by as much as they want, at least 10/15 pts. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9696 - 11/08/2019 23:04:07 2224348 Link 0 |
The handicap for the Mayo game yesterday was Dublin -5 and I was very confident Dubs would beat that. I see its up at Dublin-5 for the Final too. I fully expect the boys in blue to win by more than 5 again. conordee (Galway) - Posts: 440 - 11/08/2019 23:07:04 2224352 Link 0 |
Maurice won't ref the final, a different man will get the final.

All the pressure will be on the Dubs, they are unbackable favourites here but I don't think it will overly effect them they are an incredible team that don't do nerves. GeniusGerry (Kerry) - Posts: 2105 - 11/08/2019 23:21:17 2224363 Link 5 |
This is the opponent Dublin have been hoping for from the start. Winning 5 in a row and beating Kerry in the final. Become the greatest team ever. Regards of what county you support they are a joy to watch. latouche25 (Meath) - Posts: 520 - 11/08/2019 23:21:45 2224364 Link 1 |
Unfortunately this will be like last year's final and another comfortable all Ireland final win for Dublin,it will be try to be hyped up to get massive interest in it but it's just not the same anymore and people.know it,Dublin are a monster and no one can compete against their amazing squad of players and their far superior resources Galwayjoe86 (Galway) - Posts: 258 - 11/08/2019 23:23:30 2224365 Link 1 |
Kerry have the forward line to beat Dublin, but not the defence to contain them. Also Dublin in essence play a blanket defence when needed, they are the ultimate machine that adapt to any situation, this is not down to money like some believe, this is down to the unbelievable manager that Jim Gavin is. Dublin are undoubtedly a great team but I don't see them as unbeatable. An aging Mayo team, playing its seventh game in eight weeks, outplayed a rested Dubs team for nearly forty minutes before their legs gave out and then got over-run. A young Kerry team should have no difficulty in keeping pace with the Dubs for seventy five or eighty minutes and should be able to pressurise them like Mayo did in the first half. However they and their manager must believe in themselves and not be afraid of Dublin. neverright (Roscommon) - Posts: 1648 - 11/08/2019 23:26:34 2224368 Link 1 |
3 weeks to set a trap and some trap it needs to be. T Walsh looks like he has to play a big part an is Jack Barry due a recall 4 Fenton? Oh how sweet it could be...remember 55 and 75!! blacknamber (Kerry) - Posts: 267 - 11/08/2019 23:28:17 2224371 Link 0 |
You're delusional. All and Every advantage is with Dublin. Home crowd, dedicated sections now it would appear, total and utter familiarity with the pitch and Croke Park itself, no need to travel, stay in non familiar locations etc. Won't get into the funding discussion as it's as some people can't understand certain things. And when Kerry played in Croke Park they had to earn their way to play there as opposed to it being the home ground.

I'm just glad I finally got to wear the 5-in-a-row t-shirt I bought out of a van in Killorglin back in August 1982. Little did I know that I'd get to wear it again less than a year later when the Kerry junior team also completed a 5-in-a-row. We're getting tired of them down here..... kingdom_come (Kerry) - Posts: 76 - 12/08/2019 00:00:04 2224392 Link 0 |
Already took that..and here anyway why was Kerry better than the great Wexford team that completed it too?

The script says the Dublin team will achieve immortality if they win 5 in a row. Well this young Kerry team are also striving for immortality because if they stop the Dubs winning 5 they will be lauded and celebrated within their own county every bit as much if not more than the great Kerry 4 in a row team.
