Do you just enjoy making convoluted competition formats and why does each have to get it's own thread. Why not post all in the same thread and people can compare them within that thread KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3480 - 19/07/2019 10:27:11 2213071 Link 2 |
Do you just enjoy your self-appointed role as moderator? Anyone can post whatever thread they like, however they like and if the admin publish it then that's that. If you don't like it , don't post in it and move on, like everyone else.

Another with too much emphasis on league. People are obsessed with league. This is an Amatuer sport. Expecting league which is essentially a pre season tournament, albeit a great tool for unearthing and blooding talent, to have a baring on championship means the championship season will run from January to September. Crazy for amatuers, who have club and work commitments. BaldyBadger (Cork) - Posts: 311 - 19/07/2019 11:03:09 2213087 Link 2 |
That's pure rubbish. AIL they play an 18 game season. Teams are slogging themselves anyway without games. Just give them a proper league competition like any other sport is organised on at all levels. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4172 - 19/07/2019 11:21:11 2213095 Link 6 |
Rather than a championship. You want to play a league, play it out over 4/5 months, not 9 months at the expense of club players and other commitments. It's not pure rubbish at all. If you think extending the county season is in the good of the game and players then it's you who are talking rubbish. Sounds a bit like an armchair fan who seems to think gaa starts and ends with county games and screw the clubs. You referenced other sports. So let's look at soccer. Have an 18 game international league competition, then run the domestic league competition alongside it. Now what in that makes sense to you? Yes - a league based Summer (in some form) leading to KO is the way to go. omahant (USA) - Posts: 2535 - 19/07/2019 11:47:15 2213109 Link 0 |
I'd be talking a league over 6 months with designated club breaks at regular intervals. Very simple competition. 2 divisions of 16. 15 games played over 5 months. March to July 4 rounds of club action in each code in that time. Top teams through to playoffs in August. Rest of the year for club. AIL players dont also have to play a club league and cup too.

Not many are playing club league nowadays. They do play cup competitions. They play provincial cups leading to an All Ireland cup semifinal. They also play Provincial league competitions. How many quotes do you hear from players wanting to play their league competition at a better time of year? Well just make their league their championship. AIL players also have multiple cup competitions and if in top divisions have potentially provincial a games to play as well as Irish club XV games
