Read my last few lines my friend and you will see and understand what I am saying. Cavan need to educate those I am referring too that there is an opportunity to reach the top but you need to respect yourself your body and be prepared to put in the work. The clubs need to lead the way to show these players with ability and potential there is a chance to represent their county that it's not all about POLITICS. { It's the scourge of the GAA in Cavan and I expect all over Ireland}
Give Mickey five years there is no one in the country wants it anyway but set out the guide lines and the direction you wish him to take. The County Board need to support this and let the clubs know that you don't want so and so because of what his parents are or did ? only on his ability. Once this happens you will be surprised what will happen going forward.
Going to the pubs and bookies after training is not the way to go, encourage them to stay away from these establishments and you create a different mindset. Teach them the dangers of drug abuse teach them young don't loose them to our own ignorance
A few years back I chatted with different individuals regarding their life style and how they prepared themselves to keep themselves fit and healthy and everyone of them to a man said they worked hard in their own time along with official evening sessions with their clubs or colleges and lived a healthy lifestyle not one of them smoked or drank alcohol.
Time to make this part of their development in the clubs not on development squads for you are only tipping the top of the ice berg and every other sport is doing the same. Encourage and teach them respect teach them what respect really means it's not too late.
Remove all coaches from their environment who cannot lead by example who cannot behave on the sideline who cannot control their tempers who cannot have a conversation without using the "F" word then and only then will Cavan GAA be able to develop quality and players who will be proud to wear the Blue and White Jersey and be roll models to the young coming behind them. Whats another ten years if it means Cavan people will be walking proud to games knowing that the best of Cavan men and women are going to be there on the day to give their all. Ten years is a life time to many but the future for a lot more.
There are loads of things in the system that can be tapped into a perfect example was two wonderful Men called Fintan Reilly from Redhills former Cavan Goalkeeper and Garry Donohoe who is now with Leitrim and former manager of the last team that won an Ulster minor title. They helped the young lads that had potential by giving them free time in the meeting rooms in Breiffni to have tuitions towards their subjects for their leaving certificate exams. This is the way forward help them support them encourage them that their future is bright and they will reciprocate in kind.
What would I know I am only a runner in ?? A long time a runner in however. I also have grandchildren who might want to play the GAA game but my encouragement to them right now is stay away from it they have no respect for players it's all greed. Sorry for being cruel but it's the truth.
So if I do anything for the game in my time I hope someone will read and pass it on.

Could you just perhaps avoid posting a thesis and answer the following question in simple terms.

See if you can do it.

Who should Cavan bring onto the senior panel in 2020?

I don't want an essay. I don't want a book. I want simple names from you. Just type a one line answer with names.

Sean will tell you an injured player should be in. He also thinks our u20 manager is top class because he's a gentleman. Yesterday proved different.

Your ignorant post does not justify a reply but I will;

Well if you watch as many games as I will watch over the next few months I am sure at least one can be unearthed. You sadly are the reason why Cavan is where it is. If you had any form of intelligence and took your time to take in what you have just read it would be a step forward for you as well.

You're not prepared to say who should be brought into the panel, but you're willing to write essays that contain nothing but cryptic riddles, lamenting everything to do with Cavan football.

I have a theory as to what changed , there was word of an upset in the camp over team selection by the selector appointed by the county board and manager before the Ulster final , I do think a manager should have full say on who he appoints as selector as that would stop any outside influences on team , I would hope it's not true, but the way the team was lined out the last two games I do have to wonder .

His poor tactics cost minors an Ulster 2 years ago, ambushed an over cocky Galway to get to semi. This year same players can't even make u later final against a Tyrone team that didn't feature 2 years ago. Nope not a good manager.

Year on year I write down players from the championship that look like they might go the next step. I don't advertise the players for it's not my job to pick a county panel like the rest of you people on here.
Maybe time that you people might concentrate on games without blinkers and maybe be able to make a constructive opinion and unbiased comments on what you see in front of you.
I like to think that I can make a constructive opinion of individuals.

I have sown the seeds of thoughts just like I did in 2009 regarding the U21 players and it's now history. I am logging out . By the way in case you cannot remember what I wrote get hold of the Anglo Celt and the Cavan Post you will see my input.

Some ridiculous posts on here saying to get rid of the manager. He's not even working twelve months with the team. Yesterday didn't go well but the fact is Tyrone and Donegal are miles ahead of us and Mickey was never going to bridge that divide this early.

Re Malachy O'Rourke, I think he could play a role but as an assistant or consultant like Rochford does with Donegal. I definitely think Mickey could do with a top class, very experienced coach in there with him.

Lose and its a reality check for everyone that there is a-lot more serious work to be done before dining at a top table again. I hope its the former!"
To say I'm disappointed with that performance is an understatement. I stand by what I said, how would we deserve a shot at Super 8 if that is where we are at on Saturday, it would have been more wall papering cracks if we had got a soft draw. That result puts the heat on the whole setup for next spring. Hopefully there is a strong reaction when they regroup later in the year. BTW the propaganda and bluster from local media has not helped the situation.

Replying To The Quiet Man:  "Mickey Graham insists that Cavan didn't do themselves justice in their crushing 0-7 to 1-20 loss to Tyrone at Clones. Also he said that they are better than that. The sooner he realises it the better they are as bad as that and he should be thankful Donegal did not put them to the sword as well a few weeks back. Ones asks why well after they left their hair down a few weeks back the writing was on the wall as to what was going to happen yesterday.

===========================================================================================

You had an opportunity today to view what is supposed to be coming through but sad to say overall a bad day at the office.
Cavan would have been happy with Laois ??? would Cavan have beaten them on today's performance I ask.

As usual I will be lambasted by many on here for telling the truth but lets give it a lash. All the players on that pitch today wearing the Blue and White have no pride in the jersey many proved that when they would not come in last year for the previous manager that speaks volumes to me.
Micky Graham is not at fault but was riding on the crest of the wave but the wave has now gone flat and he will be told he was found wanting. Time will tell going forward.
The greatest problem here in Cavan is that the supporters are being dragged on by a memory that the majority were not even born to see and are reading the history on the WWW. Fifty years excluding 1997 since Cavan won anything of importance. Most on here will not remember those day's. 1952 was the last time to win a senior All Ireland.
Time the present day supporters have to realise that the majority of the young lads coming forward are being coached by MANUAL coaches?? I ask is that the way forward I ask you again is that the way forward. For me personally I don't think so, so time to make decisions.
Micky has to go out there for the next few months and find players that have raw undiluted ability and plenty of heart with a brain. Forget about who mammy and daddy are or what mammy and daddy do??
Close your ears to know all's on the terraces and the stands especially businessmen and women.
Realise there are players currently playing on the panel who will never make the grade so time to be ruthless and weed out the chaff.
Micky has to realise there are players who are not privileged but have ability give them a chance. Let these players know that the door is open to them this is the beginning of the beginning going forward."
I would agree with a lot of that but I would take exception to a few points. You say "all" the players have no pride in the Jersey. That is an over-statement. Some clearly have. I also believe that supporters couldn't give a hoot for past glories, We are living in the here and now.

He's far from a good manager, ask any player that played under him.

He had a great bunch of very talented individuals but he ruined them with horrible tactics. Tyrone were there for taking, a good manager would have beat that Tyrone team.

The last ten minutes of the u20 game saw Cavan close the gap to just two. Tyrone were there for the taking, and all we needed to do was show composure and deliver long balls into the square. The lads recognised that Tyrone were vulnerable to the long ball, and on several occasions our lads blasted the ball either wide, or played a bad pass, with time ticking away.

How is it the managers fault when a player can't kick a simple long ball? He can't kick it for them. Truth be told we're just not producing good enough footballers.

No manager would've won that Tyrone game because we have a mental block when it comes to playing stronger teams. We expect to lose, so we lose.

Very poor show on Saturday . If Terry or Mattie we're involved I'd be calling for their heads.Got to question Graham's selection and tactics. Is he the right man for the job?
Worst performance I've seen from a Cavan team since the 70s.
Never been a fan of Killian Clarke because I could never see what he adds to the team. Still can't .
Brutal stuff can't find 1 positive .
