Replying To Lockjaw:  "I always thought Anthony Thompson was very under rated for us. In 2011 when we met Tyrone in the Ulster semi final he lost possession deep in Tyrone territory. A usually fatal mistake against the Red Hands. They broke down the field at pace and looked to be in with a great goal chance only for Thommo had sprinted back and got in a fantastic block. Tyrone were well on top at that stage and a goal could have finished us that day. Who knows where the Jimmy McGuinness project would have ended up? Jim often references that as a key game. The fact that Donegal were finally able to beat Tyrone in Championship football lifted a massive psychological barrier.

He also got forward to great effect and was well able to take a score."

Thompson was instrumental in the way we attacked back then too. You would often see when a donegal score was kicked over the bar, or if a move broke down, Thompson was bombing into the opposition 21m line. Always running to draw men and create confusion to help free up our scorers. He put in some shift up and down the pitch.

Don't know if if they would be unsung heroes. Two of Meath's most heralded players, no? If you were to ask someone from outside Meath to name two current Meath players. They would probably name Keoghan and Reilly.
