Replying To Gator:  "Good grief.

Monaghan V Tyrone in the Ulster Championship was probably one of the best games of the year. It SHOULD have been televised but was not.

Monaghan, Donegal, Tyrone can play fantastic football and have shown that over the last few years. Add to that Cavan, Down and even Armagh have the ability to play non 'brute' force ball. I agree Fermangh can be hard to watch but not always. Antrim are weak and Derry are at a low ebb but on the rise again.

Ulster football is healthy. Its thrown up a few good games every year. Also Connacht championship is wide open.

The negative I can see is your posts. :)"
I remember ulster football in the 90s. Some great games, tough but great unlike today when the teams play like they are playing chess with the ball.

Pay sky to watch ulgy football! Never

So you want not only free to air football but also to watch only entertaining football? Maybe Pat McDonagh himself will drop over with a few Papa Johns pizzas in case you get hungry watching the match and bring a bag of cans while he's at it.

I think you're full of it.

You havent watched a game in your life.

Football in the 90's? Offfffffft....There was as many rubbish games then as there is now....maybe even more.

As for own county? I grew up in the 90's.....we were awful.

Down in 91
Donegal 92
Derry 93
Down 1994
Tyrone 1995 ( unlucky)
They were great years ( 92 ulster final was a mess)
You mentioned ulster football not Monaghan.

We were brutal in the 90s

They were good teams and did well. There were still plenty of rubbish games in those years.

You have made no point here.

You should read my piece again. I did not say I would not watch poor football, only that I would not pay for it

My point is I will not pay to watch football on sky.

Football is more handball than football.

Look at Monaghan beaten in recent years by Longford, Fermanagh and down!

Sometimes it seems we are afraid to kick the ball

You are waxing lyrical about football was better in the 90's. It was not. it was different but not better.

Our own county were involved in 2 of the best games last year v Kerry (Super 8) and V Tyrone (Ulster Championship).

Aye we got beat by Longford, Fermanagh and Down but so what? Teams lose sometimes.

I think you will miss out if you blindly refuse to pay for games on sky/nowtv if you can't make attending them.

We lost to Tyrone and drew with Kerry. Kerry people would say Kerry were not at the races that day and still did not lose. If you were from Monaghan it might have been a great game- our inferiority complex- we should have beat them.

I will watch a good or bad game on TV if it is free. At the moment football is in a bad place

Read the post Bernardo. We beat Tyrone in healy park in the first round of the ulster championship last year. We were underdogs to boot. It was an excellent game. Great attacking and shooting from distance.

You forgot to say we were beaten by a poor Fermanagh team after that. 15000 at the Tyrone and 10000 people at the Fermanagh match.

Have you not noticed we tend to beat one good team and then fade away. The Tyrone game was good but one sallow does not make a summer

I was at the match last year. I would not have paid sky to watch though

Beating Dublin in the league seems to give us false hope.

If you wouldnt pay to watch the game v Tyrone last year you wouldnt pay to watch any game.

Looks like you are indeed on the Cavan side of things in Currin.

It should be free to air.

From your logic about paying to see Monaghan v Tyrone. Would you give a refund re the brutal game that was Monaghan v Tyrone?

Football is in a bad place?

Lol. Wrong again Bernardo.

Two great games (if the result wasnt great for me as a Monaghan fan) both in Ulster SFC.
