Cavan V Roscommon

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Huge game for both teams this weekend. Roscommon have looked like they are heading in the right direction so far but this game will test them. Cavan will see this as their opportunity to close the gap and with their remaining games against other teams involved in the relegation scrap they will know if they get a win Sunday, it's back in their own hands.
If Roscommon do get the win, then I think they are all but safe. But it will be one hell of a battle and I'm certainly traveling up Sunday more weary then confident!

Division one on merit. Vishred you sound bitter that probably comes from the lack of silverware .

Expect Cavan to get their season going with a win here. They showed promise against Kerry, and while the Mayo game drifted away from them somewhat, there was enough good in that game for them to be positive. Roscommon's results have been good albeit against opposition that were not playing at all well. Home advantage will swing it for Cavan to secure a long overdue win against Ros.

Cavan by far the best team on the day.
Great supporters who didn't rub it into us and were slightly as surprised as we were.
They deserved it today there work rate far better than ours.

We are delighted with the win, and the manner of the win. But we have very little to be rubbing your noses in - that was our 1st victory over ye since the league proper Division 3 game in 2013??

I did have a feeling we'd win yesterday alright - we have been playing well in this campaign and just letting games get away from us. The performance levels were bound to yield a result eventually.

But if we were to meet later in the year, it would be another tough one to call.

Are Ros's togs peculiar looking in their latest 'gear'? Seem to be very trim, short looking & a different shade of 'blue' to the usual. Might just need to replace TV!

I think they run into the blue fade at the bottom of their tops, looks peculiar alright.

Dont throw out your Telly yet. It's a wee bit peculiar IMO too. Gives the illusion of the jersey being tucked into high waisted shorts.

Fair play to Cavan on Sunday. They played some great football and would love to see them stay up in the top flight. Roscommon just not up to this level at all and look odds on to be playing Division 2 football next year.

Roscommon beat Monaghan, lost by a point to Mayo and drew with Tyrone.

Like any team who makes it into any division, they are there on merit.

I'll obviously hoping we can stay up, and that would probably mean seeing Ros and one more go down, but I wouldn't bank on it.

Does that performance prove the theory that Roscommon were ahead of everyone else in terms of training and 4th match in everyone else has caught up as there's no way I saw this result happening. Roscommon need a performance next week and you'd never know as bigger shocks have happened.

Roscommon have a lot of players missing through injury but mainly just not available to travelling and studying. Losing to Cavan is a huge blow to them given they'd a win and a draw on the board already.

I really don't think that Roscommon were further ahead in their training? They were the last county to have a manager! Cavan were not far off any team they played, they gave Kerry a hell of a battle and only for a lucky goal they were right in it against Mayo. Ros put in a terrible performance, which can happen any team. Cavan on the other hand were excellent and punished Ros and should have won by more.
