Weeshie Fogarty RIP

(Oldest Posts First)

Just want to express my sadness on hearing of the passing this morning of a true GAA legend.
Weeshie Fogarty was one of the finest gentlemen you could ever have the pleasure to meet. I was proud to know him and forever grateful for his encouragement and support down through the years.
There's only one word to describe him really, and that's unique.
In a world suffocated with middling and, quite frankly boring, commentators and broadcasters his energy, passion, love and enthusaism for Gaelic games dripped from every word he spoke.
Kerry and the GAA world in general, is very much poorer today for his passing.
Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam, Weeshie.

Had the good luck to have Weeshie and Johnny Culloty for company over a meal after a football game in Killarney. They were both fine men and I would love to convey my deepest sympathy to his relatives.

What a man was Weeshie...he brought some amount of enthusiasm into his commentary and Terrace talk.
Very nice tribute to him on Terrace Talk the other night by his colleagues.
