I do indeed - The Sunday Game and The Game on Monday! They should bring it back. Make it a decent highlights package of all the games and drop the analysis as we get 90% analysis 10% action on the sunday night version. Sports Stadium goal and save or the year were great, they would shot the options for weeks. No text vote for the winner back then. An ex player would make the call. Announced around Christmas. Sports Stadium had Joe Lennon on regularly to discuss the rules of the game. A gent and a true scholar of the game who eventually completed a PhD on the governance and rules of the GAA. We really could do with an educated, well spoken gentleman or two of his ilk on television now. Mick Dunne with his GAA blazer you'd have to watch hours of sports stadium the GAA slot would never be on at the listed time.

I remember Waterford beating Kilkenny in a NHL match in Walsh park, I think it was around 1984/85..the pitch was flooded and water flying out of the ground, and despite the conditions, the "surprise" that Waterford won such was shock of the result (I dont really know why in hindsight, as the NHL used to throw up shocks, but Waterford were going terrible at the time I think)..remember the signature tune to sportscene and logo in white writing with black lines through it I think...10.50 was the start time, and school in the morning!!! GAA gold was great onn TG4 initially but it seemed to get boring...they only showed big games...there were some great Munster and Leinster semi finals and finals that could have been shown...picking one out of the blue, Cork V Kerry drawn Munster Final in 1983 I think...Dublin Meath in 1984..Ben Tanseys goal...those were the days.... That's right - just when it was supposed to come on, they would switch to some bloody horse race that was running behind schedule and then make a vague promise to show the GAA highlights at some random time later in the show. If and when they finally came on, they would often be cut short. Then the mad rush to announce all the English soccer scores as they were coming in just before the show was about to end.

They would often throw up a rough schedule at the start, if you missed it you were goosed. The 10/15 minute slot you were interested in could show up anywhere in the 5 hours! Indeed as you say that vague schedule was very much subject to change! Joe Lennon was great. Slightly off topic but TG4 were doing the goal and save of the year on Christmas morning for a while. Is that still the case I wonder.
