If its the Keegan he is talking about then "contenders" is being taken quite literally as in they will take part, barring new players coming in i don't think either will be in the mix come october

Ah Christ spare us . Neither will be contenders. Ashbourne resorted to mas defence in the championship so that shows you where they are at. Ratoath are somewhat more of a hope as the reason they are so bad is because they are shocking badly coached. Ash have no forwards.

Suspect Ratoath will be contenders for new management too! Banaghan seems to have done a reasonable job with Ashbourne and I would say they would like to hang on to him if they could!

I think the day of appointing outside managers should be brought to an end. A outside manager coming in is only interested in two things, and that is furthering there own career and making a few quid. All clubs should be preparing managers to step up from there underage through to the adult teams and have a succession plan in place. Expertise like S&C and maybe a outside skills coach can be looked at from outside the club but in my opinion all clubs should strive to appoint from within.
