Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "Yes I was surprised myself that we weren't tied into a Munster/Leinster arrangement in alternate years. But the Ulster club
hurling champions are never pushovers and have beaten Galway representatives before, so need to be respected.

Our senior club championship was run as efficiently as was possible this year (2 group rounds were held in the April window which is more than most counties achieved) and I don't think our county final could have been held any earlier than last Sunday. So under present structures, all talk of the Galway club champions playing in the Leinster club championship is nonsense. But playing the Munster and Leinster club champions in alternative years seems a reasonable proposition."
I agree that this does sound reasonable...but I see how it is also unfair on the Ulster representatives. As limiting the Ulster rep to the winners of Munster or Leinster when they have come through their respective championship doesn't make sense. In recent years, Antrim, Derry and Down champions have all come out of Ulster. So this shows it is competitive up there. And the Ulster council need to be given some credit here in my opinion. And considering that they would get penalised with arguably a tougher draw every year for something they had no control over in Connacht doesn't seem fair. The Galway reps are traditionally pretty strong....likes of Portumna, Thomas's, Clarinbridge and Athenry over the last 15 years or so. But they can throw up a few weak winners also. So the Ulster winners will want to have their cut off of that I'd be thinking

The last game until the New Year. The Leinster final between Ballyhale and Ballyboden in Carlow on Sunday. Ballyhale have come through unscathed having played just one game! Beating Naomh Eanna by 6-21 to 4-11 in the semi final. Boden definitely didn't have it as easy as they needed extra time to win their two games against Clonkill and Coolderry. The Coolderry game was a belter so I heard. It should be a high scoring affair going on form. We all know about Ballyhale and their star performers like TJ Reid and Colin Fennelly. I fancy Boden to squeeze it though. They've a packed team and a strong bench too.

Here's the remaining games:

Sunday 2 December

Leinster club SHC final
Ballyboden St Endas (Dublin) v Ballyhale Shamrocks (Kilkenny), Netwatch Cullen Park, 2pm

Date TBC (February)

All-Ireland club SHC semi-finals
Cushendall (Antrim) v St Thomas (Galway)
Ballygunner (Waterford) v Ballyboden St Endas (Dublin) or Ballyhale Shamrocks (Kilkenny)

Sunday 17 March

All-Ireland club SHC final
Cushendall (Antrim) or St Thomas (Galway) v Ballygunner (Waterford) or Ballyboden St Endas (Dublin) or Ballyhale Shamrocks (Kilkenny)

Mullinalaghta becoming the first Longford team to qualify for the Leinster SFC final yesterday perfectly illustrates the beauty of the club championships. It's a mighty achievement for a small place like Mullinalaghta with a pick of about 400 people and probably unheard of at this level. But I'd like to mention the fact that for the first time ever there will be a club team from either Leitrim or Monaghan, to quote the legendary Micheal O Muircheartaigh, "neither a hurling stronghold", in an All Ireland final next year. Castleblayney came from five points down with 12 minutes remaining to beat John Mitchels in Birmingham yesterday to set up a date with Carrick. Also well done to Oranmore Maree on beating Tooreen in the Connacht IHC final on Saturday. Niall Burke scored 1-10 for the winners.

It doesn't take anything away from Mullinalaghta's achievement but a club from your own county have reached the Leinster SFC final five times with similar resources.

Great matches ahead. Anyone's game. I disagree with you in Leinster though as I think Ballyhale will sneak through. I believe it will be a St Thomas's vs Ballyhale All Ireland. But I won't be shocked if I'm wrong.

They've been a super club for as long as I can remember, they win most trophies in Dublin and we (my club)have to play them more than any country club so trust me it's more head wrecking for me than any of you's. And yet for all their teams they still couldn't get near a small rural club yesterday. For all everyone's fear of Dublin dominance we've only one team that dominate's right now.

It's not that big of a surprise though.

Kilkenny club hurling is very very strong at all grades.

"Ballyhale are an incredible club, a rural parish with a big ability to regenerate quickly; 16 of the 2015 All-Ireland- winning panel are no longer around."

From Anto Daly in the Irish Examiner. Pretty incredible turnover rate that still yielded a Leinster Championship.
