Surprised at his retirement. Probably better full back than given credit because it would be looked on that he had a lot of cover. Tough and strong but also took a lot of punishment without complaining. Also dished it out.

At 28 I'd say it must be personal reasons.
Probably cannot commit anymore to the degree that's needed.
'Tis crazy the amount of a fellas life that's taken up with training and all the rest of being part of a county set up.

Sad reality of modern inter county hurling. Lads hit late 20's and realise there is more to life.
Never liked him personally, always felt he was a niggly individual, but sure I suppose that is needed too.
