Replying To katser:  "We are only at the last round of group matches (round 5) in the Galway Senior Hurling Club Championship and then it's a weekend of play offs, then a weekend of preliminary 1/4 finals, then a weekend of 1/4 finals, then a weekend of 1/2 finals and then the Final!!! Possibly could be November before its finished"
Gort and St Thomas's look good so far. Surprised how easy Thomas's beat Liam Mellows. Also surprised at how bad Portumna are doing but I guess nothing lasts forever.

Watched Gort in a belter of a match v Mullagh (1-19 to 1-17) as part of a double bill which included St Thomas v Liam Mellows and Gort definitely are the favourites to win it out but St Thomas are flying it so most definitely Gort and St. Thomas are the two front runners!

Replying To facethepuckout:  "Good win for St Brigids yesterday evening against Boyle to ease worries about getting out of group stages. Brigids coming good at the right time and if results go to form from here on , it will be a Clann vs St Brigids final ( think Rangers vs Celtic) with Roscommon Gaels and Pearses most likely of the rest to upset this. Good format ( thanks to Kevin McStay ) resulting in something at stake in most of the 6 ties in last round of the group stages."
After final game in group stages last weekend , Clann and Brigid's straight through to semi's so can only meet in final. Pearses/ Ros Gaels in Q Final on Clann side of the draw. Strokestown/ St Faithleachs in other Q final with winners to meet Brigids.

Form sides are Clann/Brigids/Pearses , all clustered together in southern end of the county.

Replying To OLLIE:  "Wee had the senior quarter-finals in Louth last weekend. Three of the four matches were lob sided with the title holders and favourites Newtown Blues beating St Joseph's 1-18 to 0-09, Naomh Martin beating the O'Connells, 5-16 to 1-09, The Dreadnots beating Dundalk Gaels 5-09 to 0-11 while the closest match over the weekend was St Patricks who had the great Paddy Keenan back from the States beat the Sean O Mahoneys 0-12 to 1-08. The semi-final line up is St Patricks v Naomh Martin and the Newtown Blues v the Dreadnots."
is The Dreadnots their real name or nick name?

Armagh QF results
Ballymacnab (1-10) v (0-3) Killeavy
Armagh Harps (1-15) v (2-22) Crossmaglen Rangers
Cullyhanna (2-13) v (0-7) Silverbridge
Madden (0-4) v (2-16) Maghery

The Nab account for Killeavy, St. Pats Cullyhanna win easy over SIlverbridge, Maghery have it easy with Madden and Cross up it another gear to knock out defending champions Harps. So my predictions were all right. Thought Killeavy and Harps might do better.

Semi finals
Maghery vs Ballymacnab
Cullyhanna vs Crossmaglen

Verdict:
Maghery to put an end to the Nabs run.
Cross Cullyhanna: Arch rivals and neighbours. This will be a dogfight. Its Cullyhanna's year.

In the County with the fewest clubs in Ireland the Final is due to be played this Sunday at 4.00. Unsurprisingly Derrygonelly harps have made it into another final and will be going for four in a row!! The harps have a very strong team and look a force in Fermanagh after an unbeaten league campaign. With the 4 Jones(Micky ,Conall , Garvan and ryan) they look like a serious threat in club football after all of them giving a good year of inter-county training. Other Advantages Derrygonnelly have is that they have the right mixture of youth and experience with Declan Cassidy and Paul ward still bouncing about. Although There competitors ederney will probably be the biggest test they have had within Fermanagh in the last 4 years. Ederney has always shown promise but continued to get Knocked out very early on in the championship every year. This year something has changed and they look like a fast and very exciting team. I fancy team can beat derrygionnelly it will be them with just as strong of county representation this year. Although ederney have an overall very young starting 15. I feel the nerves of the day will get to them

Can't answer that because I don't know.

I'll have to leave it to Ollie from here.

Greenfield the Dreadnots is the originally name of the club. The Dreads would be the nickname. It is named after a fishing boat.

Semi finals coming up next weekend, Roscommon Gaels ( Ros Town ) vs Clann na Gael ( area just west of Athlone ) and Strokestown vs St Brigids (area just North, North West of Athlone) . Clann / Brigids final would be the most likely outcome in most peoples eyes but good wins for Ros Gaels and Strokestown in the Q-Finals will have them fired up.

Hurling final is on next sunday with another old firm derby of Four Roads vs Athleague with over 230 years of history between them.

Rhode and Ferbane will contest the Offaly SF Final in two weeks time.
Ferbane got the better of Clara by 3-10 to 1-10, dual player Oisin Kelly scoring 2 late goals to deny Clara.
Holders Rhode, had 2 points over Tullamore, 2-9 to 1-10. Rhode's experience was decisive in a game Tullamore could have won. Rhode will be favourites in the final.

Clann/ Brigids Final in Roscommon as predicted . No love lost between these two neighbours but its not really a poisonous rivalry and should be a good final. Bit of a microcosm of whats happening nationally as these are clubs based in the more populous , prosperous part of the county and have benefited from the employment engine that is Athlone.

The mighty Portumna led by Joe Canning (15pts) crash out of the Galway Senior Hurling Championship at the group stage and fail to make the knock out stages for the first time in about 20yrs after a 1-21 to 1-20 defeat to Mullagh!!

Well they were beaten by Kerins O'Rahilly's a few weeks ago in the championship, so they're not that far ahead. They had to go through a round of the back-door to get to today's quarter.
I'd expect them to reverse that result in the semi final though.
