Croker chokers... Bottlers... Nearly men... Ah, poor aul limerick. The Mayo of hurling

F#*kin' 94 all Ireland final....I will never forget the feeling of devastation at the final whistle. 1996,2007...

..2009 semi final. 24point beating. Utter humiliation at the hands of Tipperary.

2013.our neighbours, Clare, God above, that hurt..

but not as much as the following year. We destroyed Wexford in the quarter final and then the 2014 semi final, so close, but again, after utter heroism over 70+minutes in a monsoon at the end. Lost.. Again. To Kilkenny, again, but this time we should, could have won.

Even last year, beaten by a poor enough Kilkenny side...typical limerick, going nowhere fast.

Getting out of 1b would have been a success this year in my opinion , just a glimpse of something happening. Some move in the right direction.

Never ever did I see this coming... I'm still a bit numb, but in a really good way, almost afraid to believe what I saw. Privileged to have been in Croke park, reeling from the fact that we were 8pts up on 70mins and could have lost.

So,...
Limerick are all ireland champions and thank God I actually saw it happen, not just in my imagination.
And yeah, it really matters. Fair play Slayer...great work.

Oh lads... what can I say! Well firstly huge congratulations. Its been arguably one of the best championships ever and we certainly have a fitting champion at the end of it.

It was a funny old game thinking back on it (I haven't had the stomach to sit down and watch it yet!)
Evidently Limerick were the better side, in terms of work rate, touch, decision making, use of the ball, yet it didn't transpire to show on the score board as much as it should have at half time. Being 4 down at half time I was hoping for a KK 2015 response where we would finally start to hurl and impose ourselves on the game. It didn't happen.

From a Galway perspective, the most frustrating part is we didn't hurl at all. Only Joe, Joseph Cooney, David Burke really performed to a good level. Everyone else was either average to well below par. As one of the players said to me at the banquet " if we had hurled out of our skins and lost by a point it wouldn't feel as bad as not performing at all and losing by a point"

I think a lot of the Galway resurgence had to do with the boost of the 8 mins injury time (rightly awarded) and the loss of Casey and English, 2 of the full back line.

And for as good value as Limerick were for the win, all 3 goals were completely avoidable from a Galway point of view, you went 25 mins in the second half without scoring a point and hit a bucket load of bad wides of the game. Yet still should have been comprehensive winners.

You definitely dominated on the puck outs and think I read somewhere you had won 29 of 35/36 or so? Which is a great platform to win any game.

Im sure ill sit down over the next few weeks and watch it all back, somehow hoping for a different outcome haha!

Here's to a quick a winter and roll on the league and next years hurling.

Luimneach agus Gaillimh abu!

It's the bitter words, kicks when you were down and disappointing heartache that makes winning alll the sweeter!!

The crap makes winning better.

You can't win enough!

Congratulations to Limerick on Sunday's win, ending 45 years of disappointment, including by my own county in 1994. It was great to see all those happy Limerick supporters celebrate a long deserved win on Sunday.
It is great to see teams like Galway, Limerick, Waterford contest All Ireland Finals, with Clareand Wexford making strides also.

Been supporting limerick 35 years - i thought this day would never come, really only sinking in now. Been waking up every day checking its ours. I was nervous all week, was in the hill in 1994, lower davin last sunday, twas 94 revisited, when canning had the free at he end i was looking at the net expecting it to bulge and break our hearts, when condon came out with that ball and whistle blew - it was relief redemption exstacy emotion everthing, cried my eyes out, I cannot express what this means to our county

Had we lost that game we would never have recovered, last few days been brilliant watched and relived the game , the homecoming was brilliant amazing turnout did the homecomings in adare and galbally and kilmallock the last few days

Media coverage incredible seeing us on front pages, bought all the papers monday and tuesday, leader has a special supplement today, blanket coverage. We ave had some rough times following Limerick hurling and football, been at six all ireland finals prior to sunday - lost em all, some bad beatings on the way

Tipp 97, Cork 2000, Tipp 2002 Offaly 2003 Clare 2006 Offaly 2008 2009 the mother of all beatings by tipp in semi (which started our path to glory) , 2013 clare 2015 tipperary (another horrific day) struggled at senior level in 2016 and 2017. Even remeber one week in 2016 where in space of 8 days we lost (intermediate munster final, senior qualifiers in both hurling and football, munster minor final and under 21 munster semi)

Really pleasing for those of us who have seen they guys at club and underage level last few years .
Delighted both my kids got to see this a memory we will all cherish for the rest of our lives

And to think the way we did it Beat the big 3 , drew in cork with 14 men, beat all 4 of last years semi finalists, our support was fantastic too all year really got behind the team

Heartiest congratulations to john, declan coaches, players, backroom staff, JP and Gerry McManus, Caroline, and the county board and all involved with the academy,

And thank you to the players who without fail after every match stay on the pitch for ages afterwards to sign stuff take pics, and did it again after the game sunday, and at the various homecomings taking pictures signing stuff, - a real well mannered good humoured and decent bunch of lads, a credit to Limerick their clubs, and most of all themselves and their families. They deserve everything they get out of this.

WELL DONE LADS - WE ARE THE ALL IRELAND CHAMPIONS

45 YEARS OF HURT NEVER STOPPED ME DREAMING

Congratulations Limerick on your very popular victory with a fantastic young team.
What a character Shane Dowling is, must be an interviewer's dream.

It is great to hear stories of ice-cream trucks, a few pints after matches, singing songs, etc.
How the GAA should be - enjoyable, not a chore.
I wonder is any of it exaggerated?

why is it mad to think?the club players have sacrificed the whole summer and hardly got a game.that is way madder, and more maddening.
