Is it time the GAA took action against players for unsportsmanlike behaviour during games? It was all too evident in yesterday's game from both teams. Should it be punished by a straight red card? Even though you couldn't hear it but you could see there was constant sledging going on. Also, this tactic of running across the visual line of the free taker. How low do teams have to go to won a game of football? In my opinion as already allowed an opposing player can stand the required distance away from the free taker with his hands in the air, fair enough. But to intentionally run across the kicker then the red should move the free closer 13 metres. OakGael (Derry) - Posts: 293 - 13/08/2018 11:51:37 2132640 Link 2 |
Tyrone had a free against them moved up in Omagh when one of their players ran across the path of Dean Rock. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Doesnt overly bother me. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 13/08/2018 12:28:19 2132656 Link 1 |
"Is it time" haha where have you been, this stuff has been going on forever? Teams will find new ways to try and gain an advantage, whether it's distracting a free-taker or having lazy running from a selector wearing the same colour as your team to distract the keeper. We were at that tactic with Karl Lacey against the Dubs and Tyrone did it to us in Ballybofey. Defenders have been standing on forwards toes for years as well, what of it? How low do they need to go, are you seriously asking this? To get to an AI final, or even to win it a lot of teams would go very low...

Is there a rule to prevent an opposition player running across the eyeline of a free taker? This is a very obvious tactic and surely could be eradicated easily enough. Sledging is more difficult one, unless within the earshot of the ref what can be done. Green_Gold (Donegal) - Posts: 1873 - 13/08/2018 13:57:25 2132724 Link 0 |
this is something new in my view.i remember my playing days, and the opponent would 99% of the time wait for the next ball to nail you.how times have changed clearly. perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 13/08/2018 15:49:29 2132787 Link 0 |

The tactic of running across the path of the free taker was called out by commentators. But the ref yesterday clearly didn't see it, nor the mark, nor the third man tackle ,,,,,,,,, sigh arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4895 - 13/08/2018 18:20:14 2132859 Link 0 |
Thankfully someone with a bit of common sense.........i see eamonn Sweeney slating Tyrone today and saying everything they do is the opposite of Dublin....... Dublin do what every top team does.....whatever they have to do...but for some reason get an armchair ride of the media....bar last years all Ireland final vs mayo because it was too obvious not to highlight. Sweeney says how sporting they are.....McMahon and Cooper mdm and a good few more are probably the least sporting men in Ireland.....but they are always described as men that do what they have to do, yet when Tyrone do it there's uproar. Whether it's going down to easy, blocking runners, cynical fouls.....they are a dab hand at it and thay wouldn't be going for 4 in a row if thwy weren't....fact
