Replying To skillet:  "I read your post on the Galway forum where you were elaborated a bit on it being such a black, black day.... whining that Galway shouldn't lose to Limerick as...... we're a 'non GAA County !!!!

Please, help me out here. How are we non GAA? Is it somehow an insult to lose to us?
We've more senior All irelands than you. Does that help your angst a bit.
I'm at the homecoming in the Gaelic grounds right now. Team not due for hours but 1000s here already.plenty here for a non GAA County..

Bit of dignity in defeat wouldn't be a bad idea."
It was by no means a black day for Galway, 10 other LMc Carthy counties would have gladly played there.

Just looked like a cheap way of getting Dublin mentioned in something that has nothing to do with them. Sounded a bit desperate but since I stick in a >>>>:) you won't have a problem with me saying that."
I don't care. I don't know you so I won't take it to heart like you have. sad.

As a Mayoman born and educated in Galway I've always found supporting the maroon hurlers second nature. But like a lot of neutrals I've always had a soft spot for Limerick, plus an ex-playing connection through a brother-in-law, so it was thrilling to see them make the breakthrough yesterday. Like ourselves, their supporters have stored up a lot of pain and the end of the game was beginning to look like deja vu at one stage, so it was terrific to witness the lifting of that burden. It does make supporting Mayo an even lonelier road... like we've just lost our hurling soulmates, but heartiest congratulations on a deserved victory!

Replying To Daith:  "Great to see a team face the ghosts of 94' by conceding two late goals, but still having the guts to get the scores to get them over the line.

Brilliant end to the best championship since the late 90s. Isnt it always great craic when Kilkenny and Tipp are rubbish?"
"Isnt it always great craic when Kilkenny and Tipp are rubbish?"

Rubbish? What a snidey word to use. Kilkenny are a team in transition. A lot of new young players were introduced this year. Yet despite this, they won the League, lost to Galway in the Leinster Final after a replay and pushed Limerick nearly all the way in cracking AI quarter-final. Tipp on the other hand had a bad year by their standards.

But all this is besides the point. We've had a great year of hurling and Limerick have come out on top, and deservingly so. But Clare, Cork, Kilkenny, Wexford, Dublin, Tipperary etc. were all part of the show. No team deserves to be called "rubbish"

See Babs Keaton's putting the boot in , while the essence of what he's said can't be disputed, and yes Galway will have a lot of regrets, the manner of his article is not one of his finest moments

Replying To endgame:  "McInerney was very poor yesterday but probably shouldn't have been started by Management.Felt he was overrated in 2017.He's big and powerful but lacks the pace and mobility for a modern number 6.Do you agree Pope with the rest of my post.Under the new system,it's going to be hard to reach an All-Ireland hurling final.More games and more risk of injury and suspensions.Galway basically blew a huge chance yesterday against an inexperienced Limeruck team who had never been there before and it may be some time before the Tribesmen get as good a chance again."
Rather pretentious concept, 'a modern day no6'. GMc does not lack pace or mobility for no6, imo. 'Overrated' is a tag that doesn't mean anything to me. He was a unanimous pundit choice for all star no6 in 2017, and proposed by the Sunday Game panel as hurler of the year in 2017. How could he be 'overrated'? GAA players don't carry world ranking points, or any such ratings to my knowledge. You mightn't fancy him as a player, others might, the point being that he can't possibly own any 'standard rating' that needs to be evaluated or assessed by hurlers on the ditch like ourselves.

Indeed you are but I suppose nobody likes their wings clipped. Meanwhile I was talking to a few Limerick people passing through on their way home today and their unbridled joy was brilliant to see. Massive smiles on every face. They won the best championship in the modern era. Great way to end the GAA season.

Nonsense. There was nothing special about Galway this year, they almost staggered into the AI final. After taking a replay to beat Kilkenny in the Leinster Final, which put them straight into the semi-finals where they met Clare. Again, it took them a replay to progress.

This is not disrespecting Galway. On the day, this year, anyone from Limerick, Galway, Cork, Clare or Kilkenny, could beat each other. But overall the two best teams contested the final and the best team on the day, and over the Championship won.

'On the day' * 3 times, KK did not beat Galway. They should have won at least one of three, you'd imagine, if they are capable of it anytime 'on the day'.

Wouldn't have too much sympathy for Galway , they didn't hit their own high standards and as a result are de-throned , Galway hurling is in s healthy place yet another minor team winning the hurling conveyor belt continues, Galway will be competing for Liam for quite a while yet

Hurling has been the real winner this year
a great championship so many exciting games
where the result could have gone either way
with limerick capping a great year by winning the liam mc carthy cup
in the last 5 yrs c;lare galway and limerick have now won
which must give huge hope to other countys
Waterford wexford and other teams waiting a long time for all Ireland
as david burke has revealed the long year all the replays
took a lot out of them you can only demand so much from youre body
the galway lads are only human but went down fighting as champions
we used up all our luck too v clare how did clare not beat us Il never know
anyway been a great years hurling our minors have won 3 minors in last 4 yrs
so we wont lack for more new talent in the years ahead
we in galway are so blessed to have the great joe canning in our county
he really is a present day legend respected by all throughout the country
he is now also on target to become the leading scorer of all time

Fair comment Damo. I think we went to the well too often in recent weeks, to deliver a big performance in the final. Either tiredness/injury had us flat for 70mins, or inadequate mental preparation had us flat, but one way or the other, we were flat looking all day. Didn't get a grip of it, until Limerick seemed to get a dose of white line fever in the latter stages.
