David Duffy did accept the cup and did make a speech but who cares.

The stand in captain stepped up first and took the cup and made a speech and he also made reference to Duffy not being allowed up. Common sense prevailed at the end and Duffy did get to speak and raise the cup.
Great win in their 50th anniversary and will give the group 2 senior teams a run for their money - Rosemount, Castledaly, 'Bridge, Kinnegad and Killucan.
Shandonagh are also up to div 1 in league having won div 2 unbeaten and Milltownpass are back down to div 2.

Couldn't make the game and was misinformed...it is a rule though....the Moorefield captain (Darryl Flynn) was red carded in the county final last year and was suspended for the first round Leinster win over Portlaoise for lifting the cup, along with his vice-captain (David Whyte) who was also red carded in the same game, they lifted the cup together and got suspended....David Duffy could face the same fate. Bizarre rule.

Now that you mention it, i did notice that Duffy was not presented with the cup or make the acceptance speach and at the time I thought it was a bit odd but now I understand it. One of the Boyle's accepted the cup and made a speach and made reference to the fact that Duffy was not able to. When he was done, he presented the cup to Duffy who then said a few words. Sad that it has to happen this way and needs to be removed from the rulebook.

And they both missed the 1st round of the Kildare SFC this year, the one game bans were doubled.
