That would've been an incredible harsh red. The GAA hour did a seriously detailed analysis of Gough's performance after that game (they had to after RTE's disgraceful coverage) and the only 2 clear errors from him both went Dublin's way: the penalty should've been retaken and Lyne should have had a free. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4978 - 04/12/2020 18:04:19 2318276 Link 5 |

Why?? He was on a yellow and the foul he committed deserved another yellow so was he to be allowed to continue fouling with no action taken against him

Wooly can stick the blinkers on at the best of times, but there isn't another podcast out there that's capable of analysing a game without throwing out the same overused clichés

Paul Rouse had a god article in the examiner yesterday about home advantage ye should look it up if ye get a chance. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 05/12/2020 10:11:53 2318426 Link 0 |
The contact from O'Sullivan was minimal and the feigning as the Dublin player dived made it look far worse than it was, Gough deemed that a tick was sufficient, per the rulebook. Perfectly reasonable decision, I really don't understand why people are still on about it.

I think a lot of it is misinterpretation of the rules. Either way, it was a perfectly legitimate decision. I think there was a feeling that Gough should have dealt harshly with it to even things up after Cooper got the line in the first half but that's not how it should work. A red card would have been very very harsh there.
