It makes sense when Cork's football team fails to make it to the Super 8. Al_Maguire (Donegal) - Posts: 240 - 09/07/2018 14:15:12 2120014 Link 0 |
a huge crowd of wexford support will vote with their feet here i think. perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 09/07/2018 14:18:58 2120017 Link 1 |
Thurles is slightly closer. PuC is a brand new, state of the art stadium. Why not play it there? Do people really think its a waste of money? Gavvygavgav (Dublin) - Posts: 382 - 09/07/2018 14:19:54 2120020 Link 4 |

I'd have been p**sed off if they had Lmk, Kilkenny in Cork, let alone having to travel from Wexford. skillet (Limerick) - Posts: 1054 - 09/07/2018 14:28:06 2120026 Link 0 |
Is the Semple Stadium unavailable? That would be the most suitable choice. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2418 - 09/07/2018 14:43:45 2120033 Link 0 |
dont see why it couldnt have been in semple at 7pm on saturday evening.whatever hope they had of getting a crowd to there. the crowd will simply be paltry.wexford park wasnt even full for galway at 5,which shows that saturday does not suit so many people.3 will be even worse. i work in a bar and wouldnt have been going anyway, but this nonsese of having to justify puc is just a joke. i would say 3pm for the sake of tv,the gaa is now a complete sell out to tv. perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 09/07/2018 15:02:22 2120046 Link 1 |
Are counties not just thrilled to be in a Quarter Final without a big moan? Yes Cork is 30-36 mile farther from Wexford than Thurles but surely the roads are a bit better? Yes 3 pm on a Saturday is a nuisance...as I have just experienced. But if they fixed it a 7pm then folk would moan that it clashes with the Dublin-Donegal match on TV! One minute we complain that games are not being televised the next that they are being televised but at the wrong time! Manstein (Roscommon) - Posts: 43 - 09/07/2018 16:03:32 2120078 Link 4 |
It's literally a half hour longer from Wexford. Is this really an issue. Surely there are more important things to be upset about. bronxirish (USA) - Posts: 17 - 09/07/2018 17:34:35 2120114 Link 1 |
The only thing I'm surprised about is that both quarter finals are not in PUC. It's a bit late to be kicking up a fuss about it now. It was widely reported and well telegraphed that Cork County Board were going to lobby to have both qfs in PUC if Cork won the Munster hurling final. If ye think it's bad for Clare and Wexford it would have been much more inconvenient for Galway. That's one of a number of reasons why it was important for us to win the Leinster final yesterday and make sure we didn't have to face that possibility. It is a waste of money. In a bad location.

With the fixture arrangement it's like the powers that be want a small crowd at this game bostonredsox (Wexford) - Posts: 4368 - 09/07/2018 18:26:40 2120127 Link 0 |
Will they pull 10k for this? Ridiculous decision. ZUL10 (Clare) - Posts: 693 - 09/07/2018 21:39:59 2120199 Link 0 |
Surely the logical decision would have been a double header on the Sunday? tearintom (Wexford) - Posts: 1304 - 09/07/2018 21:52:09 2120201 Link 0 |

People just love to moan, Waterford and Tipp would love to be in that position. If Cork were in the QF i'd travel to belfast to see them PyatPree (Cork) - Posts: 376 - 09/07/2018 23:28:27 2120225 Link 2 |
They wont with the likes of you not to be bothered traveling down to support them

i think that could be a very accurate guess. there is plenty of ill-feeling towards the place and timing of this game from the people i was talking to,and i think people aren't going to travel from wexford for 3pm on a saturday just because the gaa need to use pairc ui chaoimh.i think people went last year for novelty, they then realised what a walk it is to the stadium, and won't be back this year. perfect10 (Wexford) - Posts: 3929 - 10/07/2018 08:46:01 2120260 Link 0 |
