If you don't get a game ur not goin to b able to show who is better players young Ferguson never as got as much as game time for 10 min even.we then went with lads in the final game lets face it were not goin to b up for inter county again westmeath that was shown.losing the plot on the line is a smokescreen for a poor campaign with clueless gameplan and I'm not pulling any punches here to play your son he needs to b exceptional that he's not. We played better without him full stop.

We have improved of that there is no doubt, but luck of the draw etc has been against us, and getting a few calls that should have went our way but didn't , fine margins.
Let's hope next year we get rub of the green."
We didn't have any luck is bull.. we had the chances to win in both of those games and didn't take them Royal
That's simply not good enough.. you take your chances and win games, it's what top teams do every game
Unfortunately we've a team of mentally fragile players who haven't taken their chances when they're there to be taken and until that changes we're not going to get any further

Only question we should be asking is what does Andy need for next couple of years."
Yes Tyrone look good, they will make it to the semi final or even the final this year.

So it makes one think about the missed opportunity in Navan or how good we might actually be and what can we give Andy to make things a success !

Or we could think about how we lost against a poor division 3 team longford and what Andy needs for that ? p45 ?

All joking aside but we can't reward failure either ..just look what we kept doing with MOD when he kept failing ..only to give him another year !

I am starting to think 2 years is long enough

Yeah we should have gave Sean boylan 2 years. What were we doing giving him till 86 to win anything? (Apart from centenary cup). :)

there is only one Sean boylan ....just because if you give a lad the same amount of time as Sean boylan you will get another Sean boylan ? okay good luck :)

Plus Sean was wanted by the players ...which helps

I think that ideology failed with Mod...give him more time like Sean boylan got and Mod will become the next Sean...lovely stuff

lighting doesn't strike twice sadly ...

Just about players leaving the panel.

I have to say in my viewpoint. There is a crisis at inter county natonwide. Counties like Meath Down and Cork are very similar counties sucess wise. Derry Armagh Offaly also wud be strong football counties. All our having their worst decade in years. All our seen players leaving panels something which was unheard of 10 or 15 years ago in these strong footballholds..

Derry ended in div 4 this year. 19 Derry players didnt return from last years panel for this years league. Cork were nearly relegated to div 3 , hammered and humilated v kerry and Tyrone. Worst defeat to kerry in 80 years. Cork football it at its lowest since 1950s. 18 Cork players didnt return for this years league who were part of 2017 panel. Offaly survived in div 3 , just. Offaly manager was got rid of during this yearschampionship. Offaly will have their fourth manager in three years next year. Its their worst decade since 1950s. 15 Offaly players didnt return for this years panel for the league from last years league. Down r in div 3 , Armagh have spent 3 of last 4 years in div 3..Both are at their lowest in generations, both counties have problems of players leaving panels. Basically 95 % or so of team in div 2 3 and 4 have to deal with this crisis..Its a national inter county crisis which the GAA has ignored.

Two stats I found in last few weeks.

In an interview with national paper Galway manager said during his, kevin Walshs first two years as Galway senior manager , 52 players either left the Galway senior panel or refused the offer to join the senior Galway panel. In his first two years with all these players not playing for Galway Galway could not get promoted to div 1. And were hammered by Tippearey in Croke Park. 52 is a serious number of players to refuse to join or leave a panel in 24 months. Galways have won under 21 All Irelands in recent years so they must have talent to replace these players. But surely this didnt help Walsh in his first two years.

It seems this is not senior problem its a problem at all levels. Brian Farrell said 10 to 15 players turned down the offer to join Meath under 20 panel this year. That is a very worrying tread. Players are now turning down to play not just for inter county senior , but also inter county underage. Its seems to be a massive national issue at all levels. What r GAA gonna do..Do they care?.

Furlong1949 (Meath)- You are correct in that it is happening in all counties and at all levels-part of the problem is the amount of 'control' that county managers exercise which is more to do with themselves (and lack of man management) rather than then making training / coaching more enjoyable without it it being a 7 day /week exercise. Guys working in trades cannot now play county football. Of course this is also happening in some cases at club as well.

Farrell said that to suit his agenda though. A log of those players that turned him down were doing their leaving cert, that was the same for all counties. Otherwise Brian had the best players available. He didn't complain about this after we beat Kildare.
