Which Of Those Teams Would They Have Beaten

(Oldest Posts First)

I was reading Joe Brolly's article where he insists that the current Mayo team would not have been good enough to win an All-Ireland in any era. He further goes on to say that Mayo team certainly wouldn't have beaten the Derry team he played on. I looked at that Derry team and some games they were involved in but sorry, we would have eaten them alive. The sheer intensity of modern game has utterly change since those days. Our Mayo team in 2013/14 in particular would have beaten them, hands down.

No point in comparing eras...or getting too hung up on what Mr.Brolly has to say. Let's hope our u20s give brollys Derry something to think about in the semi final.

We can't know that and neither can he. A big difference between playing the better football in a final and being good enough to win it.

I like Joe, he's very entertaining at times, but winding people up is his hook so I don't think his hypothesis is worth a single thought. I don't think that even Joe himself expects to be taken seriously.

WHEN PAT SPILLANE WAS ASKED IF HIS TEAM WOULD BEAT TODAY'S DUBLIN TEAM HE SAID THEY WOULD BY A POINT OR 2 BUT WE WOULD HAVE TO REMEMBER THEY'RE MOSTLY OVER 60 YEARS OLD NOW.
