Yeah, I agree, let them have a game in it every 4 Years! What a stupid comparison.

Hardly solves much problems, Donegal would still have two away games.

My post was in a response to someone who suggested that Dublin wouldn't have won their All Ireland's if they had been played in Castlebar and I was pointing out that Dublin were also successful in Castlebar. FWIW moving the Dublin v Donegal game to Clones would benefit Donegal more as they are used to playing there. If you want a neutral venue then play it in Hyde Park (25k) or Pearse Stadium (26k) Long.Dub.Glic (Dublin) - Posts: 190 - 01/07/2018 18:13:04 2117304 Link 0 |
Why Semple jimbo? Thurles is an awful hole compared to Clones.

At least we still play at our cowshed, and it certainly did look glorified last night!!! Your cowshed on the other hand, does any Dublin footballer even know how to get into it anymore?? Couldn't blame him it's been so long. As for bailouts, Dublin €16m in the same time we got 600k so you are on weak ground there buddy. Our cowshed is soon to be upgraded, your cowshed on the other hand continues to be ignored. You had a weak argument last week and were proven wrong, and how so very wrong and you have an equally weak argument this week too. There was a very good article in the Indo at the weekend and the headline was "Croke Park was built in Dublin, not for Dublin"......excellent read!!

I get you chief wasn't having a go at all ! Just backing up your stance ... why would an AI even be played in Castlebar! If you want to win an All Ireland you play in Croke Park. Mayo know CP very well, played plenty of top teams there and beaten them since 2011.. including Dublin ! Jaysus if Dublin get to a final this year there will be calls to move it to a neutral venue!! It's the exact same logic... surely it's still Dublin playing at home.. So where should the AI be played if Dublin get to a final? jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20587 - 01/07/2018 19:13:15 2117333 Link 1 |
Your new found love of neutrality over all other considerations would bring a tear to a glass eye jimbo. Not much sign of it in the last number of years but I suppose a Damascene conversion is always to be welcomed. MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 01/07/2018 19:21:55 2117336 Link 0 |
If Dublin werent involved in the Super 8's....everyone would have 2 away games....I dont see your point?

Some amount of moaning. If Donegal want fairness and a neutral venue, Dublin county board should demand it to be played in the venue with biggest capacity outside Dublin. The top 3 are Munster venues? Welcome to Thurles lads. JayP (Dublin) - Posts: 1772 - 01/07/2018 19:31:01 2117345 Link 1 |
no, everyone would have 1 home, 1 away and 1 neutral but Donegal game 1 home and 2 away and Dublin have 2 home and 1 away. it's not rocket science NaomhNaille (Donegal) - Posts: 124 - 01/07/2018 19:50:54 2117353 Link 0 |
Listen Muck If it's going to be a neutral venue then let it be neutral and Clones IMO just isn't. So what about maximum attendance and Clones holds a few more. We learnt this week that more pressing factors have precedent over bums on seats and generating revenue. A truly neutral venue wouldn't be in Leinster or Ulster. If the game (which was pencilled in for CP months ago) is to be moved for the benefit of neutrality then let it be played in a suitable venue otherwise what's the point? jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20587 - 01/07/2018 19:56:53 2117356 Link 1 |
Hopefully Cork wins their qualifier and we get down to PUC. Be some few weeks if we had Donegal in Croker, Cork in PUC, Roscommon/qualifier in Semple. Sadly I don't think the GAA would let it happen. Dublin in Croke Park in worth millions to them, in gate receipts, sponsorship, advertising, corporate boxes and premium tickets. Why wouldyou kill the golden goose. A neutral venue surely means somewhere that is not the home ground of the 2 competing teams. It doesnt matter which province that is in. To be honest I would rather play the game at Croke Park than Clones as some of the younger Donegal lads could do with as much experience there as they can get. One of the big selling points of the Super 8s was that there would be big games down the country so why not play as many as possible outside Croke Park. Hmm I'll let you do the Maths on that again, everyone would in the scenario.

Isn't the neutral venue an away game? If its not a home game, its an away game. Its not rocket science!!! JayP (Dublin) - Posts: 1772 - 01/07/2018 20:24:25 2117372 Link 0 |
I know that many people would love to see the Dubs and their fans come to Clones in The super 8s. The excitement and all. Would be brilliant for gaelic football. There's a brilliant atmosphere about St Tiernachs Park and its a fantastic pitch. I know I would want to be there as I am sure would other neutral fans from the locality. border Gael (Monaghan) - Posts: 893 - 01/07/2018 20:31:41 2117376 Link 1 |
Would love a trip to PUC Our record down there is abysmal! Hopefully could put it right But yeah.. some great weekends away could probably only get to one or two so if the Cork game came about it would be top of my list jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20587 - 01/07/2018 20:31:48 2117377 Link 1 |
I don't think it is neutral, although that principal is talked about a lot in the fair or unfair spectrum. It was 1 game in Croke Park, 1 home, 1 away. Be interesting if they did move Dublin out of Croke Park , the GAA would essentially be acknowledging it's Dublins home ground, I think politically they be reluctant to do it. I think a straw poll of Dubs would show having two away games would be the favored option. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 01/07/2018 20:33:02 2117378 Link 0 |
Wouldn't be surprised to see Cork pull Armagh at home tomorrow, I've thought for a while they fancied sending us down to PUC for the S8s. Be another classic trip! TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 01/07/2018 20:37:04 2117382 Link 1 |
