We'll you agreed that more subs in extra time was fine. Then you say it can't be a new game in any way, just a continuation. Why is one change fine and the other one treason?

i think the player who was sent off shouldnt be given the option to return to the field. thats his punishment and if its a bad red card offence he'll be dealt a suspension too. but for the rest of the team who have had to dig deep in spite of a teammate letting them down i think it is perfectly reasonable to reward that with a new 15th player.

So what if the game goes to a replay? Do you think teams should start the replay with the number of players they finished the drawn game with?

I've said on here before that I think a deliberate takedown for a crucial score should be punished by awarding a penalty to the other team. That would help eradicate the the 'taking one for the team' mindset. You mean there's nothing to be praised by 14 men hanging on until full time and getting a fair crack over the extra time they earned themselves? Indiscipline got one player sent off and it's a team game. Why punish the team any further? SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts: 2385 - 13/06/2018 22:00:23 2111301 Link 0 |
It isnt perfectly reasonable. What if the red was in the final minutes and the red was for a guy clearly taking a guy out going for a winning score to decide the game? How is that fair? Extra time cannot take place without the 60/70 minutes beforehand. A team shouldnt be rewarded for getting to extra time when indiscipline took them to 14 or worse during the normal duration of a game How are they different for the purposes of this discussion? A replay cannot take place without the 60/70 mins in the first game. A red could have been issued in the drawn game for a guy clearly taking out a guy going for a winning score to decide the game yet you are happy for each team to start with 15 in a replay but not extra time. The rules are the same for both sides and work fine so don't see any need to change them even if they are different to other sports. Soma (UK) - Posts: 2630 - 13/06/2018 22:59:16 2111332 Link 0 |
