Get ready to watch the return of the blanket with Comer partnered by either Army or Burke up front - it wont be a shootout. Not that I'm complaining, I'll take the win. I think Galway by 2 points (something like 0-12 to 0-14), the defence have a better awareness of their jobs this year and have implemented it against Div 1 teams all league so I think they will be better defensively than last year. Plus SA at 3 and Kerrin are really tightening things up this year. The_DOC (Galway) - Posts: 705 - 12/06/2018 16:20:17 2110599 Link 0 |
If we can keep Galway to 14 points i would be over the moon with way we have leaked scores to adverage teams all year to date.

Would agree with you that we will see Galway settle back into a more defensive structure. Having said that I think after seeing what we can do going forward vs Sligo I am expecting to see them go at roscommon a bit more too, Particularly in the first quarter and try and burst out of the blocks. Would love to see KW leave 'The Bear in the Square' in their for the first 15 and lamp a few in on top of their full back line and see what they're about.

Passed the Hyde today and they are busy strimming and painting. They are even tarring the road outside. Hope to be there Sunday. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11219 - 12/06/2018 20:34:32 2110737 Link 2 |

Say it will be close....two years ago ye hammer us in replay in Castlerbar. There was no noise afterwards. Last year we hammer ye in Salthill. There was no noise afterwards. Galway b Roscommon isn't noisy and we definitely are not noisy neighbours. Let the best team win.

They have a few good forwards but come on its not like they have been setting the Gaa world on fire the last few years. We have improved defensively since last year, if Kerin is out we will manage, Will their defence that conceded 12 goals and 80 points in Div 2 (8 games ) league this year hold our forwards. Our backs conceded 1 98 in Div 1 8 games ( two games v Dublin).

Last year Roscommon conceded on average 20 points per game during the league yet they still held Galway to 0-12 come championship time. The average they have scored now is 20 points a game Galway will be going all out with lower that and they have conceded 15 points better but in a worse division. Should be interesting to see how Roscommon defend in this game as for me that will be deciding factor.

Agree, but needless to say and stats show it that Galway have tightened up dramatically in 12 months..

We're going to win by five. There's really nothing else to be said.

So barring a bad day at the races it's Galway by 5 points, the real benefit in winning Connacht is a Super 8 series not playing Dublin but rather Kerry in the Round Robin. Coming top of the group would mean an AI semi final v the runner up in Dublins group which could be the Ulster Winners which at this stage looks like Donegal who are limited enough but are growing in strength or Roscommon might just sneak back in there, mind you Mayo might surprise us all by mounting a serious challenge in the back door. Oh and don't rule Monaghan out, they're stung and were caught badly by Fermanagh, no doubt Rory is relishing at shot at his former employers. What odds on a Dub v Gal final in early September, mouthwatering prospect, we're not quite at Dublin's level yet but we're not a millions miles off. dontlookback (Galway) - Posts: 267 - 13/06/2018 21:43:02 2111283 Link 1 |
