Replying To Furlong1949:  "I was just responding to people saying on the forum many many times I would say I have read 10 times or more on this forum that how many players from our team would get on the current Dublin team. My point is very few players in div 2 3 or 4 from any county and very few players outside Mayo kerry etc a handful counties in div 1 would get on the current Dublin team, one of the greatest teams ever.

My point is we have some very good footballers. I believe Donal keoghan, Conor McGill, Brian Menton, Cillian Sullivan, Graham Reilly,Donal lenihan, Alan Forde and Padraig McKeever are all very good footballers. Thats the only point Im making. Im not talking 80s or 90s. Im talking these current players here and now."
What is the point going on about Alan Forde and Padraig mcKeever? They are not on the panel for the Tyrone game. That's what this thread is about. There are other players that I would prefer to see on the panel but they're not and I am not going to waste my and readers time going on about them.

I am going to the game in a sort of faint hope. I find it difficult to really get "up" for this team and management but they deserve my and everyone's support as they are representing our county against one of our biggest rivals over the years. So let's all go and try and do our bit from the stand and terraces.

Anyone thinking that Andy Mc's "system" is going to change and throw the shackles off are the ones who need the straight jackets.

I will go tomorrow as I do to most games and support the team.

However I fully expect that I will be on the terrace scratching my head as we let Tyrone play their game and we struggle the retain possession and kick ball after ball away.

Irrespective of who Tyrone are missing they will need to be abysmal for this Meath system to beat.

I really hope we do it but you'd have to be half cracked to think Meath have the capacity to get a win.

Agree. Too late for Andy to change his tactics now and i don't think he knows any other way to play , He has been playing this system since he took charge and we have not beaten anyone decent since before then. Playing with only 1 forward playing defensively and shipping 16 Scores against a Division 3 side was bonkers. Same rubbish throughout the league hand passing the ball around while having a gale force wind behind you. Players leaving doesn't help for whatever reason but we are simply and sadly getting worse every year. i will be going tomorrow but seriously doubt we will get a win we have no form whats so ever

Going in hope more than expectation, like most people I suppose. No doubt, the atmosphere at the moment is not good but the players deserved our support, whether or not people like or agree with the management and the way the team is set up to play. Meath by 2, hon the royal!

Replying To Poormouth:  "I really cant understand these types of posts. They are completely irrelevant- he's a great footballer that would make the Meath team of the 70s, he's a great manager, best manager since Sean Boylan , he would get on to any team , he would make the current Dublin team etc . You might as well say if my aunt has bxlls she would be my uncle. What's the point of them."
I dont mind if you disagree with what I say, or think what I say is rubbish.. Its good to have a debate, I could be right I could be wrong. Its just a single irrelevant opinion.

But I think u r being very unfair to me. You have focussed in on one line I said and have exaggerated it. I have written on that the Meath have produced big performances v top teams in last year v Galway etc extensively. If you disagree grand. I have wrote about the state of leinster football extensively. If u diagree with my comments on that grand. No problem. I have written about how there has been few wins for leinster teams in this decade v top teams extensively. Again if u disagree thats no problem. If u are critical grand. But I have written lots lots of long messages about the above and in one small message in passing I make the comment about our players not getting on Dublin team once.

I was responding to that nearly every week, every game people on this forum for years have said No Meath player would get on the Dublin team. And u didnt criticise that or any of them, many many many comments. I write extensivly on other areas. Which if you want to criticise no problem thats your perogative. I might wrong I might be right..My opinion is irrelevant and unimportant. But I try my best to not degrade or insult anyone of the forum.

But it is unfair to say I have been going on and on about our players not getting on the Dublin team when I have mentioned it once in passing. It seems people go through my messages zoom in on one mistake and highlight or exaggerate it.

I write in long winded away..Some people don't like that. If u think what I write is rubbish. I have no problem with that. If u want criticise, criticise. But try and criticise on what points Im trying to make eg Meath play well against top teams. If u disagree grand. But dont zoom on one throwaway comment , that was really referencing that so many other people on this forum have said that no Meath players would get on the Dublin team. Why did u criticise me and not all the people that spoke on this. I think that was very unfair. Im sure you will go through this message and pull me up on some throwaway remark but not talk the pages and messages I have wrote about us playing well v Galway Rossies Donegal lst year. Criticize disagree debate it all good. But be fair.

And the chap Oldham above who criticised me for mentioning that Alan Forde and Padraig McKeever very good players. Whats wrong with saying two Meath players on a Meath GAA forum are very good players. Whats rule have I broke talking about Meath footballers on Meath GAA forum. All I said was they were very good. They are current players and hopefully both will be back next year and play for the county for years.

If u said there not on the panel this year , so I shouldn't mention them. Fair enough..But why have you not criticised nearly every second person on this forum who have mentioned players who are not on the panel. There has been lists and list of players and discussions constantly on this forum about players missing or leaving panel for months. Discussiin on what players should be on the panel. I mention that two of these players are very good. I am highlighted in doing so. Why didnt u highlight and criticise the months of messages and comments regarding this topic by others. Im not the only person who has talked about players missing or players who have left the panel. I would say there is very few on this forum that have mentioned it. Yet Im the one that is highlighted. If u don't like my style our mentioning the past grand. But I was talking about two current players who should hopefully play for Meath for years to come.

Anyway I feel in my waters , in my guts that we can do this I could be right. I could be wrong. Im just a simple bogman fron the backend from the backwoods of Meath who loves his county.

And I believe in our players. I believe in the management.I believe in our values and our traditions. I believe that Meath football stands for something special. I believe that u can never right us off. I believe that it doesnt matter how far we have fallen, how many years we r down we will always always always bounce back. Its what we do. If we dont today. Grand. But we will someday. But I think we can do it. I cannot read the future. So I could be wrong. But this is what I believe.

Tyrone have had 4 great teams in 80s 90s 00s and now. Best Tyrone teams ever. In everyone of those decades they have come to try and win Sam with those teams. And everyone one of those teams Meath has beaten up to the current one..We defeated their excellent team in the 80s by 10 points in a div 2 league final. In the 90s they came with another excellent team. No one and I mean no one gave us a chance. And we won by 9 points in an All Ireland semi final. In 00s they can5e with their best team ever. In 2007 no one gave us a chance and yet we beat them.
I
n this decade we could have beaten them in 2013, we should have beaten them in 2015 and I believe today we will beat them in 2018. And another Tyrone team is beating by the Royals. Our minors our under 17 and our under 20s have shown the way. It times for for our seniors to man up and do the business. And hopefully at 7.00 on saturday Navan will be rocking as Meath have just rocked Tyrone and Meath have just rocked the GAA world to its very foundations like we did n 96 and 07.

It will be said across the land across the country on sat evening once again the lenght and breath of the country once again people will utter those words that have been said down the ages " You can never ever right of Meath". This is our time , this our monent. Stand up one and all be proud of your county and Navan will rock on sat evening.

Come on An Mhi. Im sure if we lose this will be brought back up and laughed at . But I dont care. I believe we will come back its not a question of if its a question of when we will come back.
Hopefully I belive this evening is the moment.

Prediction
Meath to beat Tyrone with a massive performance. We can do this. A united Meath, Meath united will never ever be defeated.

I actually feel like a child before Christmas, I am so nervous with excitement about the game I can't sleep!

Just want to wish Andy, Bryan and all the lads the best of luck tomorrow. Our time is NOW! We need to BELIEVE!

Tyrone are on the way down it reminds me of the 1978 Champioship, Meath will finally click and will win by 8 plus. Hon the Royal!

Very surprised joey Wallace isn't in from the start. Made a massive difference when he came on the last day with his energy and movement. Anyways best of luck to the boys today. We can dare to dream of a great win :-)

So we all have our doubts about our team and style of play etc but its the morning of a championship game at home in Navan so lets banish the negativity and get behind the team.

We are at home, and we have ran Tyrone close in similar circumstances before. The players have worked hard all year and will not want to go out of the championship without putting in a big performance so lets hope they put doubts into the Tyrone players minds right from the start and that we win the game and that it puts a different complexion on where we are.

At some stage, a group of Meath players will have to start to make their own history and today is as good a time to start doing that as any other.

As the game draws closer, the more confident I get, so lets make our way to Navan and shout the team over the line.

Safe travelling to all Tyrone supporters.

A united Meath, Meath united will never ever be defeated."
Is it too late to arrange for the pre- match team talk to be given by Furlong? I'm sitting here kicking the door off the hinges just reading it!!

Fair play to you. If we could bottle that passion and pass it on to the players then we would be in a much better place.

Replying To Furlong1949:  "I dont mind if you disagree with what I say, or think what I say is rubbish..

Really getting excited now! Some day for it. With regards to the Meath team selection I have to say a potential masterstroke from Andy with young Gallagher making his debut. Total unknown quantity for Tyrone to try and plan for. This team is strong and most importantly mobile. Especially midfield. Anytime I saw young Adam Flanagan play I felt he always held back and I'm thinking he's probably been saving himself for a day like today. He WILL be the matchwinner.

Let's all get all TOGETHER and make Pairc Tailteann a bubbling cauldron of noise and colour! An Mhi Abu! HON THE ROYAL

PS safe travel to our Tyrone Gaels to and from Navan.
