When is the first round draw taking place?

The qualifiers are June 9 so I presume the draw will be the Monday before that.

That sounds right - after all Prov QF losers are known.
It's so unfair - these 16 (mostly Lein/Uls) needing 4 wins (straight KO) to get to the Super 8, when the other 16 (incl unplayed Muns/Conn byes, still with 2 chances) needing 2 wins to get there.
We could make it an equitable path of 3 wins req'd by all with a simple tweak -
Prov SF 16 must win a Champs Playoff as well (now need 3 wins) - with the 8 losers to Quals Rd 1 as well forming 8 groups of 3.
Top 2 from each with 4 Prov Final losers to KO Rd of 20 (Rd 2); and 10 winners with 2 Prov Champ losers in Rd 3 producing the other 6 teams to the AI Last 8 (also needing 3 wins).
Whether Uls teams win thru the hard road to the Uls SFs, or lose out to Qual Rd 1, both groups then require 3 wins to the Super 8 (just like Muns/Conn bye teams, or their QF losers).
While the Provs remain unbalanced, we could say the AI Series Proper starts with a level playing field at the Prov SF 16 and 1st Rd Qual 24 (incl the former's 8 losers).
This solution is so simple - why not do it ?

After 8 Prov SF losers are known, they could be drawn against the 1st Qual Rd winners just like now, before they play the respective 1st Qual Rd losers as well (in 8x3 groups).
Prov SF 16- win thru 3 rds (incl Playoff)- 2 to Last 8.
1st Rd Qual 24 (16+8 SF losers) - win thtu 3 rds of 24, 20 & 12 - 6 to AI Last 8 (latter reverts to KO).

Would this work ?

How about the winners of the provincials going into the 1st round of qualifiers the following year just to spice things up?

The GAA will be hoping for an extended Mayo run again with the large support base. I remember it was even mentioned in the GAA end of year report last year on financing.

Yup - I like that spice - but should the 2nd year Prov Champs then have an asterisk next to their name ? - some of this is not easy.
Or, have the prior Prov Finalists in both streams - 1st Rd Quals, and for symmetry, all 8 start in Prov SF 16 ?
To streamline much boring Provs, should NFL determine top 4 in each, so Provs start at Prov SF 16 only instead ? - and all 32 play 3 inter-Prov matches (strong 18, with 3x6 groups, with each group 2x3 pools, teams in Pool A v those in B); and a less-strong 14, with a two-pool 1x6, and normal 2x4 groups).
Top 6 of 18 (pool winners) and 6 of 14 (incl 2 wild cards) join 4 Prov Champs in AI KO 16 (or bye to QFs, if Champs come thru group as well).

With a 9-match requirement now to win Sam. that's certainly an 'extended' journey.
I'd be very happy for yee if yee make it.

Outside of Tyrone there's little to worry Mayo.

If the Provincial semifinals go to plan then the loser of Cork/Tipp are probably the biggest banana skin.

I'd be surprised if Mayo weren't involved in round 3 anyway. Again Tyrone would be the only scary ones to avoid again.

The losing Ulster finalists will likely be the stiffest competition in round 4.

why do you need the C in the second part of your name ? . It would work just as well without it ?. Also I'm surprised the ever vigilant admins let that username through. (ironically my post will probably not make it )

Can anyone confirm that repeat meetings can occur in qualifiers still??(that many changes hard to keep up at times)
Last i heard could with rule being team that won provincial fixture getting home advantage in qualifier game then.

Great that division 3 and 4 teams get home advantage against higher ranked teams, always should be case.

Be interesting to see if Mayo get drawn against a division 3/4 team with a very small home venue, will the game get moved to a bigger neutral venue?
