Munster Hurling Championship 2018

Very stop start game from start to finish, Limerick red card fully justified but the Clare one was a joke, everyone going to blame the ref on this but took the word of the umpires so lay off him i would think, Clare hurled better and deserved their win roll on July 1st should be a great game to finish off a great Munster championship

Galway v Limerick should be a cracking quarter-final.

Ah think katser is mostly a rugby head. The "glory glory" usage gives it away!

Replying To PeggyShippen:  "Great Clare display but Limerick was shocking. Clare are very economical. Limerick Management were terrible. They played into Clare's hands letting them go short with puck outs. And to start Dowling and leave Gillane off was a joke. Flanagan gets 5 from play at full forward against Cork and he's moved to accommodate Dowling..
Richie McCarty was good and Has to start full back now.
Final Gripe. Please improve the Reffing standards. This guy today was way out of his depth. He let's trips go and missed a tonne of stuff. And he was shocking for Clare and Limerick. Not good enough."
Management were spot on to not start Gillane after almost being the cause of them losing against Cork. Ditto Tom Condon should be let stew on the bench for a long time until he learns that discipline is just as important as hurling ability when it comes to winning matches.

We both know only too well where I stand on that..reference the Leinster Final!! Better be careful what we say or else that other lad will be sticking his nose in being patronising about kids using phones

Best not write us off. We are not easily beaten at home and I felt Limerick underestimated us today.

Justice was done. Poor David Reidy got sent off because of simulation from Diarmuid Byrnes. Hang your head in shame Byrnes. I presume it will be overturned and he can play Munster final."
I am not surprised. Only once since 1945 we have won in Ennis. On the other hand Clare have only ever beaten once in the Gaelic Grounds in Championship hurling and that was 65 years ago.

Amazing turnaround for Clare. I personally didn't fancy them for Munsters top 3 and now they're probably favs to win the final. Better team throughout the match today. Conlon and Dugan has been immense. Still fail to see what O'Donnell offers tho. Other than that they're really building nicely. That result is a big blow to limerick. They looked leggy today and hopefully for them they can build again
I'm not sure what's going to be down with the officials. These crazy decisions are becoming too common at this stage. Umpires need to be referees! Reidys red card was even worse than cahills. The limerick player hitting the ground should hang his head in shame too!!

Tom Condon is long past being off the panel entirely. The fact is Ritchie McCarthy or Seamus Hickey should have been brought in when Sean Finn got injured.

Replying To katser:  "Yes that's true but Clare will beat Limerick in Ennis and Limerick will beat Waterford so group would finish Cork 7pts, Clare 6pts, Limerick 4pts, Tipperary 3pts, Waterford 0pts."
Wasn't too far out!

Replying To Cockney_Cat:  ""I'd expect Clare to beat Limerick" Really, on what basis? It's a genuine question; and while I will not say Clare can't beat Limerick, from what I've seen so far I'd back Limerick to beat Clare. The bookies seem to agree with me. Limerick are 2/1 joint favourites, with Cork, to win the Munster Championship; whilst the shortest price on Clare is 11/2."
Thanks for the tip....but I had already got Clare at 8/1 for the MHC title.

The ref had to make a call on an incident he didn't see, based on advice he got from his umpire.
Those blaming the ref need to cop on and realise that there's one person to blame for that sending off, and that's Diarmuid Byrnes.
It looked like a clear case of a lad pretending he got a belt and trying to get an opponent sent off. A ref's job is hard enough as it is, without this kind of nonsnese plaguing our game.

SOD wasnt himself today but he is a supreb player and makes our inside line tick. He is selfless, tracks defenders and his vision to spot a team mate is unreal. He is also a serious goal threat. He reminds me of Bonner Maher in Tipp in that he is the ultimate team player.

First of all well done to Clare yesterday they were much the better side and their energy and legs killed us in the last 10 minutes especially, hope they win Munster and we get through the qualifiers to see each other in a semi-final again. Getting back to your accusation of Byrne's diving how can you make out from a grainy view from a camera 50 feet up in the air- the camera is overlooking the whole pitch and it's at their backs, to me it looked like the 2 players were looking to find their position in case a ball was played into them and they brushed/banged off each other and got the hurley accediently in the ribs or stomach area and went down genuinely- this happened before Shanahan had struck the ball, do you think Byrne's would be stupid enough to lie down pretending and take the chance that Reidy would have got a pass from out the field and been 1 on 1 with Quaid. Anyway hope Reidy gets off but please don't accuse Byrne's in the wrong

Disagree re Byrnes, obviously it goes without saying Reidy didn't do a thing wrong, but theres no way we know if whatever innocuous contact made caught Byrnes in an awkward place and winded him, caught his ribs etc etc. Why on earth would he go down and leave his man free on the edge of the square otherwise?

How about we agree on handing on criticism to the man who completely deserved it and where there is no if's buts or maybes... Tom Condon.

Yep, that's why I said officials. There's been a load of strange calls this year. I thought the refs performance yday wasnt great either and yes Diarmuid Byrnes was one person to blame but whoever told the ref is even more at fault because obvioulsy they didnt see the incident or else hasnt a clue what theyre at.
There has been countless number of yellow cards this season that werent even close to being frees.

the one positive that should come out of this year is that we got properly training umpires.

Condon should get a long long ban. One of the worst strikes I have seen in a long time.

could not agree more, that is a no-go area.
i also agree with tiobraid that if we got 1 positive from the year, better umpires (and maybe a 2nd referee trialled during the league next year?) would be a good starting point.i am by no means ageist but look at the age of the lad who made the call for the initial free, rabbit in headlights.

That's ageist.
