Can't think of a munster team other than tipp that are vastly superior to Wexford......

Why was Walter Walsh not playing at the weekend for Kilkenny will anybody tell me? I presume he was injured?? clare_sparrow (Galway) - Posts: 425 - 21/05/2018 15:50:36 2102702 Link 0 |
Why do you ask ? Does he have to play ? Had you money on him scoring or what ? Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 21/05/2018 18:36:37 2102759 Link 0 |

Because he is one of the best players in the country. I would have expected him to play. Thanks for being so helpful Dubh_linn.

No, it's just you seem concerned / upset with his ommission particularly that's all. I don't think Walsh was needed on the day anyway. Now if Walsh was a Tipp player you might wonder why he didn't play. Half their regulars weren't started in a far more competitive game. Who is going to win between Galway and Kilkenny? Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 22/05/2018 12:04:57 2102976 Link 0 |
Hard to see past kilkenny at the weekend. Also very nervous about offaly but feel we should have enough. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 2629 - 22/05/2018 13:37:49 2103006 Link 0 |
I don't know about upsetting the apple cart after last weekend's performance. People are giving Offaly credit for getting within nine points but truthfully we were out of our depth even with the wind in the first half. Kilkenny had over 20 wides and really should've beat us by more. Offaly are certainly capable of pulling it off and playing at home is a big plus. Galway v Kilkenny should be an exciting one to watch. It's been a few years since they played each other in the heat of battle. I would have to go for the Galway to win by a bit to spare on the evidence of the last two weeks. PortInFaithful (Offaly) - Posts: 472 - 23/05/2018 16:51:09 2103338 Link 0 |
I'd say Galway in a close one and Wexford in a close one. It's just that I think the two I chose are further along in their development of their current teams. I wouldn't be shocked if I got both wrong but they would be mild upsets. Galway are due to really have a dominant outing as they weren't great in the league nor against Offaly. Should be great Hurling.

I would imagine he didn't play because he's a key man for them and they'll need him next Sunday. They were always going to beat Offaly so no need to play him and worth looking at how they'd get on without him.

It 'll be interesting to see what the crowd is like in Pearse Stadium this weekend. It be disappointed if it wasn't 25 to 30 thousand considering who Galway are playing and it's Galways first game in Salthill in Leinster championship. looked like a poor crowd in the gaelic grounds too...........no mention of that?

I think Sunday will tell us a lot about Galway, too often they have surrendered meekly to Kilkenny when great things were expected of them, so time for them to show the Cats that they are the All Ireland champions. I have heard loads of people state that this game does not matter that much as long as Galway make it out of Leinster, it's only May, they could potentially meet Kilkenny at least twice more so what difference does one defeat make, but to me this is a huge game. This is about putting down a marker, Kilkenny are the greatest hurling county ever, they have been multiple All Ireland winners over the last 20 years, while Galway have only managed one All Ireland. However Galway are the current champions, it is well within their grasp to win at least one or two more All Irelands with this team, so they really need to start beating Kilkenny every chance they get. gilly0512 (Galway) - Posts: 1176 - 24/05/2018 13:04:52 2103538 Link 1 |
Tickets will be impossible to get. Of course it'll be a sell out. I cant see anything than Galywa winning by a minimum of 5 points. They are far superior than any other team in the country tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 24/05/2018 13:37:35 2103547 Link 1 |
I wouldn't exactly be disappointed if 30,000 weren't in attendance seeing as the current capacity of Pearse Stadium is 26,197.

A couple of years back people were expecting Tipp to dominate for a few years and look how that went. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 2148 - 25/05/2018 10:17:13 2103746 Link 0 |
I think Galway are a fairly mature bunch and this round robin ought to suit them because of the squad they have. They need to lay down a marker this weekend though and win well against Kilkenny which is a big ask. PeggyShippen (Limerick) - Posts: 300 - 25/05/2018 12:06:36 2103767 Link 0 |
