Replying To FoolsGold:  "It shouldn't be scrapped because it's a Holiday to Ny for Irish people, ? They can still visit New York regardless. New York have never won a math, last night night was a great effort but another defeat. They won't have a player of Jamie Clarkes class to call on every year."
Jamie Clarke was hyped up as the forward to lead New York to their first championship win but in truth he was average in this game, missing simple frees and shots from play, taking the wrong options and was far to greedy on the ball. 2016 when New York ran Roscommon close they had the likes of Luke Loughlin Westmeath and Darren Freeman Monaghan who were excellent on the night and true team players.

Poor New York will have to wait until the next time roscommon are in town to have a chance of causing a shock

NY need a win in the championship and I feel this was their best chance since Roscommon. They may need to wait a while now cause Mayo are in town in 2019"
Get what your saying that a win would have been great for New York and i wouldn't begrudge them one , but a defeat yesterday would have set Leitrim football back year's we have some decent young footballers coming through and that would have dented there confidence no end. We'll be doing great if we get within 10 points of Roscommon in all honesty, but considering the pressure our very young team was under yesterday and the strength of that New York team we done great to get a result.

You are harsh on Clarke he is only one player. In fairness that roscommon match only for some very very wasteful shooting roscommon should have won that game by 10 points plus

New York like London are trying every year to win one of these matches but in reality the GAA view these games as a token gesture, what was said on TV last night if New York had won it would have meant 17 teams would be in the 1st round of the qualifiers instead of 16 and be a headache for the fixture committees, well boo hoo, give NY and London proper funding allow NY into the qualifiers if beaten instead of talking of splitting Dublin in 2 and super 8s, time money was reduced from stronger counties and increased for weaker counties, make the GAA a more fairer sport. The GAA should be looking forward and with a view in the future of having a football and hurling world cup, this won't happen with token gestures to NY and London or with imbalances within this country
