Sensitive little soul aren't we. What...did someone say something remotely negative about Monaghan!! lambofgod (Mayo) - Posts: 116 - 20/04/2018 14:31:28 2094114 Link 0 |
Of course I am biased but I think we should win this one. mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 1042 - 20/04/2018 15:14:38 2094117 Link 0 |
Unlucky draw for both teams as probably the top two in Ulster atm. Very hard game to call, a point or two either way at most in it at the end. KY4SAM2015 (Kerry) - Posts: 898 - 20/04/2018 15:53:27 2094124 Link 0 |
Good to see MH has himself distracted with other issues other than gaa even though he is trying to drag the gaa into it. mon07 (Monaghan) - Posts: 139 - 23/04/2018 20:15:02 2094602 Link 0 |

Going to be a real clinker of a game. Winners will rightly be favourites for Ulster. Monaghan play league and championship at a similar pace whereas Tyrone always lift it a few gears for championship. Although Monaghan are a fine side I think it'll be Tyrone by 4 or 5 points! RTE are showing some foreign wedding and can't show any of these matches , a disgrace. So much for having a Monaghan man as head of sports ...means nothing

Tickets are on tickets.ie now. Prices are a joke though. €35 for the stand if you don't get a ticket before match day!

Not surprised it's not on TV. RTE are obsessed with hurling. Wouldn't wanna miss the pageantry and magic of the Munster Hurling C'ship god forbid Adler (Monaghan) - Posts: 754 - 04/05/2018 01:34:34 2096551 Link 1 |
This has all the makings of an intriguing tactical battle - in a positive sense. Tyrone timed their season well, getting some impressive results late on after a slow start to the league. You would expect Tiernan McCann and Lee Brennan to be fit enough to start which will be a massive plus for Tyrone. They probably would cope without Colm Cavanagh either way. Monaghan were flat out for longer in the league and got their reward with a decent run of results against the big teams. Fintan Kelly and Beggan to be fair to them have done very well this year. But have they learned enough overall, and added enough attacking quality, to go to Omagh and win in the championship? I can't really see it. Mickey Harte always comes with something to disrupt Monaghan's plans and it will probably be no different this time around. Tyrone by 4 to 6 points to set them on their way to an outright win in Ulster. MadgeKing (Cavan) - Posts: 490 - 04/05/2018 12:56:53 2096629 Link 0 |
I'd (naturally) disagree with this assessment. Monaghan were never flat out in the league. The body language at the end of the Dublin game was evidence of this. This is one of the lessons learned from last year when we went flat to the mat (with a party hat:-)) from the first league game and ended up bowing out tamely in the Championship. Only 3 Monaghan players played every minute of every game in this years league and of those 3 only Rory Beggan was an established player. I think we have far more attacking options than Tyrone and crucially we have far more players who can score points from further out the field. Adding to that, Beggan is on a different planet to Morgan when it comes to reliability on scoring placed balls. Morgan is still living off one superb kicking diplay v Dublin about 5 years ago. McCann and Brennan would be big boosts for Tyrone but Colm Cavanagh is a huge loss. There is no one on the Tyrone team who could do his job at the same level. Lastly, it still could be Tyrone or it could be Monaghan but its a kick of ball, no more. One thing is for certain - whoever wins in Omagh, wins Ulster. Terrific assessment there Footblock and worth the read even though MadgeKing's comments are entirely negative, begrudging and predictable about Monaghan. I suppose when you've won only one Ulster SFC Title since 1969 then we can begin to understand his obvious frustrations. Thankfully there are knowledgeable Cavan supporters out there who know the genuine merits of this Monaghan team and the obvious shortcomings of their own. Still not 1 top quality forward in the county of Cavan & now their defense is a cause of major concern to their own supporters. Bring on Tyrone in their own backyard & may the beat team win. The winners strong favourites to win Ulster ! Shelbourne (Monaghan) - Posts: 567 - 04/05/2018 19:26:43 2096713 Link 1 |
very good assessment footblocker although tyrones running game does leave me a little concerned especially there half back line i think if we go ahead early keep 15 fellas on the field then our bench can finish the job going ahead early in these matches really dictates the outcome prideof85 (Monaghan) - Posts: 851 - 04/05/2018 21:47:30 2096738 Link 1 |
