Im biased obviously but just wondering what peoples thoughts on this are. Tipp are 1/33 to beat waterford and it only turns into a joke imo if that does happen so just taking that for a given in this. Tipp playing Waterford the the 19th of may, if tipp win they are playing cork 1 week later the 26th of may, the winners of that play the final 4 weeks after the semi. The original date for the tipp/waterford v cork match was saturday 2nd of june but Cork limerick hurling was changed from the sunday to the same night cork were playing football. Munster gaa in their wisdom then changed the tipp/waterford v cork to the sunday and a direct clash with tipp waterford in hurling. Now theyve changed it again to what we have now. I know they are trying to change things so theres no clashes for people wanting to go to both but it seems whatever change Tipp are losing out due to Cork v limerick hurling being changed. Everybody expects Tipp to beat waterford so the 1 week break shouldnt be a big deal but you cant take your eye off the waterford game, cork very nearly lost to them last year and if tipp win that leaves 1 week for recovery and preparation for the cork game. Would be interesting to see what people think of it

The Hurling would be the big crowd draw that weekend, won't have 1/4 of the numbers at the football the night before.
They probably can't make it a double header because minor hurlers would get preference over the senior footballers in Tipp.
A double header for the football and Hurling would make perfect sense tho.

Provincial championships are a joke now. Time to scrap them.

But only 1 week for Tipp from beating playing to playing Cork.....Actually think this will be of benefit to Tipp.
If Tipp do beat Waterford they should be sharper than Cork and i would fancy Tipp

I am for mouthwatering national pairings as well as traditional Prov preservation. How can we have both ?
Keep Prov structure with certain changes. Today, Uls modified Prov draw from 2022 to limit Prelim teams to the 5 not drawn in prior 2 years.
This could be improved upon - all Prov Final 8 go to Prov SF 16 the following year.
In addition, and separately, all 32 play two national rd robin games - the first 15 NFL-ranked are drawn to 5 groups of 3; with the lower 17 drawn to 5x3 and 1 two-legged pairing.
The best 2nd placed of 10x3 groups join 11 group winners and 4 Prov Champs in the AI KO Last 16.
Prov Champs who most likely will 'double up' get a Last 16 bye to the AI KO QFs (forget awful Super 8).

From a players point of view it makes no sense because they play two weeks in a row followed by a 4 week break when it could have been spaced out more evenly.

It's obviously driven by tv revenue over player welfare. It is extremely disrespectful to Waterford too.
