Match Cancellations Due To Weather 18/03/2018

(Oldest Posts First)

Will there be any match cancellations tomorrow Sunday 18th due to the snow and ice tonight. I hope the GAA make a quick call before any supporters start travelling. So early pitch inspections tomorrow lads and lassies!

Can't see any matches in Dublin, Wicklow or Laois going ahead tomorrow.

So fixtures could be moved into April.

Games in OCP Tullamore fixed for tomorrow subject to weather conditions. Relegation play off Antrim v Laois goes ahead.

A lot of games scheduled for tomorrow are dependant on weather improving in 24 hours.
This is the third weekend where a partial or complete cancellation of games has occurred.

I have no sympathy whatsoever for the GAA on this one. The fixture schedule is far too tight. In commencing the leagues in winter, it was entirely predictable that a couple of weather events could happen that would disrupt the entire schedule. If it didn't happen this year it would happen next year or the year after. That's what they get for putting the cart before the horse and not first abolishing all these pre season tournaments that are cluttering up the schedule

Croke park has heating lamps and everything. It has a purpose of facilitating games regardless of stadium companies agenda.
Could be used tomorrow for matches refixed for venues that wont be playable tomorrow either.

All season ticket holders should get a free pass on this one. Very unfair on some of the counties affected by this especially with games that are being rescheduled for tomorrow

Seriously no one expected the blizzard of a fortnight ago, or it's smaller cousin this weekend.
They are freak weather events.

...that are always likely to happen in a winter schedule and therefore should be taken into account when planning it.

On rte radio Daryl Frehill was saying that the Down v Tipperary game couldn't be reduced for tomorrow as their is no Bank holiday up the North. They have a bank holiday for Patrick's day. Very ignorant of the gaa if this game is this is the reason it wasn't played tomorrow.

Tipp gaa tweeted after the game was called off that it was off despite it being a bank holiday up there aswell so may have been reported wrong but not reason its not being played tomorrow. think work commitments are the reason

Makes complete sense. The Gaa jumped the gun this morning in regards to rearranging games for tomorrow. Showed no regard for players who have to work Bank holidays.
