Quitting The Club

(Oldest Posts First)

Interesting stuff, I worked in Dublin for 5 years and traveled home for games but obviously did my training in Dublin and was trusted to do so. I can't say I always pushed myself as hard as I did than if I was training at home though. But I just couldn't see myself ever playing for another club. It wouldn't have been the same.

A few years ago we lost a championship final and 1 of our Dublin based guys decided he'd make the switch to a club in the capital. The very next year we won the championship. Now don't get me wrong the guy was delighted we won it. But he was crushed inside at missing out. It was our first adult championship since the early noughties.

At the end of the day my advice would be to do what's best for yourself and what makes you happy. If trekking home for training and matches doesn't have the same appeal anymore then I'd take a step back for a year. Stay in shape, travel abroad, focus on your career etc. The club will still be there in a year's time.
