Replying To yew_tree:  "Also we have had much worse weather here in the west but there is a difference in east v west in this country.

If this weather was only hitting the west no way would the entire country be shut down and the media and public panic buying frenzy that comes with it."
But yewtree all your guys work in Dublin, you can't shut a country down just to safeguard livestock

Why would we have infrastructure in place to deal with events that occur once in a blue moon? It'd be a complete waste of money. There's a reason we're unprepared for events like this, because they're very rare thankfully. Having everything in place costs money, and it wouldn't be good use of already stretched funds.
Siberia doesn't have much of a choice though, seeing as these conditions are comonplace for them, so they obviously have to get on with it.

Exactly WanPintWin. No infrastructure could alleviate the past few days here, where as in places like Siberia and the rest of Russia they get those conditions for most of the winter every year.

Looks like the Dublin game is going to be rescheduled for next Sunday.

Good stuff and fair play to all involved for agreeing this given the Kerry manager is managing a school team on the Saturday.

I don't know why they couldn't just play the chorn ui mhuiri final on Friday evening and have Dublin v Kerry on Saturday, I'd say eir sport won't be happy about that.

Ha ha good one, meself and Mrs realdub ventured around to the local shop to get some urgent supplies. We had to queue in the shop for over an hour and the walk home against the blizzard in 3ft of the white stuff was a nightmare.
Sno joke I can tell you.

Haha realdub, what ever about walking in the blizzard the queuing for an hour in the shop would be murder all together :-0

we're snowed in here and nowhere to go except in and out of the cow sheds, half thinking of attacking a few cans of harp to stave off the cabin fever :-\

T'was the 'poor infrastructure in Ireland for such weather' remark which didn't make sense. There's been a lot of complaining this week about Ireland being unprepared for such events. If people want us to waste money we don't have on infrastructure to deal with once in 30-year events, then by all means.
As hardy as the Siberians are, I'd doubt they'd manage to run a full football and hurling league program in Jan-Mar though. ;)
