Limerick Feile Na Ngeal 2018

(Oldest Posts First)

Looking at the Feile Fixtures- Groups for 2018.
Only 7 teams in Limerick Partaking in the "A" grade Na Piarsaigh, Mungret, Monaleen, Ballybrown from the city , Doon as normal & 2 other teams to their credit NCW & Athlacca.
Limerick Hurling has won plenty in the past decade in Underage but if theres only 7 clubs able to play "A" grade Feile we're in trouble. How in gods name are Kilmallock who have by all accounts a very strong 14 team allowed to play in the "B" grade , must be badly stuck for silverware by the Balbec.

openstand you have made a great point.think a few clubs takiing easier options and competing at a lower grade.where are all the amalgamated teams?surely some of them should be playing at the higher level.this is something that bord na nog need to look at.

Are Ahane that far back underage. There should be 10 strong feile teams at least. Great to see newcastlewest in there.

Feile "A" semi finals
Mungret v Doon
Na Piarsaigh v Monaleen

Na Piarsaigh and Doon permanent fixtures at these stages whilst Mungret & Monaleen are getting to that stage as well. The above fixtures will be the senior semi finals in the near future.

Feile "B" Quarter Finals
Kilmallock v Garryspillane
Ahane v Cappamore
Killeedy-Tournafulla v Feohanagh-Knockaderry-Monagea
Adare v South Liberties

Mungret and monaleen will replace na piarisaigh as the top clubs in the next 10 years

Doubt that. Its wholly possible but They'd need to drop the Gaelic football completely in Monaleen and Mungret to even countenance challenging Na Piarsaigh. They'd also need better and more coaches and better club infrastructure. Who's gonna drive those 2 clubs foward..

Yeah I heard the same but they've a good structure in place in the 'Well. They are lacking numbers underage in that group in particular. People forget that Patrickswell is only half a parish and don't have a huge pick.
Still for the life of me can't see why the inner city clubs like Patrick's, Claughaun and Old Christians come together and turn out a really good premier team

Claughaun,Old Christian's and St Patrick's are joined together from U14 to U18 in hurling since last year.

So why are they allowed play in the lower grades? They seem to have lots of players on county squads but won't enter premier competitions!

Are they really? My god. That's some state of affairs that they can't compete in premier. Its disgraceful and a task force is needed to sort it out.

Hurling in inner city is at a very low level, claughaun and St Patrick's complete on their own in all levels in football, hurling is a big problem

On the other hand Na piarsaigh , monaleen & mungrets underage hurling is up there with any club in Munster .
Ahane, patrickswell, ballybrown,Murroe ,liberties on the edges of the city also have some good teams but that won't suit that big chip on your shoulder .

No chip on my shoulder,na piarisaigh, mungret and monaleen are super clubs and well done to them, but they are not inner city clubs, that's why I said inner city hurling is not in a good place, maybe you need to be from the city to understand, but sure let inner city hurling die.
