Replying To Thelastword:  "You have that all wrong regarding relegation, the third place teams in each group playoff with the two losers joining the 4 bottom placed teams in two groups of 3,the bottom team in each group are relegated, with the 2 second place teams playing off and the looser of that also relegated,a lot of games for county board to get theough"
Are you sure? It seems crazy to create another group once the first group it done. If there's a draw then will a team be relegated from intermediate on scoring difference? At least if it was knockout there could be no complaints.

Ya the format is on the master fixtures released at start of the season,so you could be relegated on scoring diff which would be harsh

Very interesting way the relegation will play out this year. Any team that fails to qualify for the quarter-finals are in danger. A 3rd place team play a one off game against another 3rd place team and the two losers out of them games head into the relegation battle. That leaves it with two 3rd place teams and all four 4th place teams into two groups of three, with the 2 bottom placed teams relegated and the two 2nd place teams playing off against each other in a relegation final to make up the 3rd team relegated. A bit of a mouthful alright but can see the likes of Carna, Glenamaddy, Athenry and Gabriels all sweating at the moment. But in fairness if you get relegated you have to lose around 4/5 games so can't argue too much with it.

The losers of the relegation play off are into the relegation proper where they will join Carna, Glenamaddy, St Brendans and Athenry. Two groups of three. Top two teams are safe. Bottom two teams are gone and the middle two play off at the end with the losers also being relegated.

It's been a competitive championship in the main, with qualification spots in all groups decided in the last round of games, some of which went down to the wire. MB getting a 1-point win over Oughterard has put a very different spin on their campaign.
Most of the teams in the last 8 will think they've a strong chance, given how open it is.

Yes, a very competitive championship so far. Well done county board.
With kiljerin clonbere, who were the bookies favorite elminated, it leaves the way clear for MB to win it out as the second favorites. A lot of there injuries have cleared up if the rumors are true. Really looking forward to quater finals with MB, spiddal, Aran, hedford Making the semis

Oughterard were my fancy to win intermediate this year. Shocked that they didn't even get out of the group. Honestly thought they would have too much for MB, a team that just got over the line against a very poor ballygar team. Maybe they underestimated MB. Anyway, as a previous poster mentioned, the intermediate championship is wide open this year. I think the four teams to make the final four will Oranmore, Headford, Spiddal and Arainn. After that your guess is as good as mine!!!!

The main reason for breatnachs improvement is the genius of Frank Doherty who steered caltra to an all Ireland club title. He is steeped in tradition from the East of the county. He got the best performance out of them when least expected by knocking a few heads together which took time. He will get breatnachs back to the senior ranks, no doubt about it.

"The tradition of the East of the county". Sure. That was the reason they beat Oughterard by a point on the weekend. Nothing to with the fact that they're getting their better players back to full fitness.

Frank Doherty in my opinion did not steer Caltra to an all Ireland club that team was built already from the year previous, any man could of brought that team to an all Ireland club with the amount of Meehan's on that team!!!

Getting to the business end of the championship now, seems to be wide open with K/C & Oughterard out of contention. My pick would have to be Oranmore as they seem to have the best form. Do any of the bookies have odds for it?

Didn't Frank Doherty walk out on MB earlier in the year when things weren't going well,
I wasn't aware he was even back with them. He has walked out on previous teams he managed as well.
