Kerry Vs Galway

Well done to Galway by far the better team, better than the three point margin suggested. Very solid defensively, they didn't give Kerry any opportunity to get back in to it in that second half. There seems to be genuine progress since last year.

Some positives for Kerry, I thought Burns and Clifford did well, as did Tom O'Sullivan when he came in. We were well off Galways level today but I expect us to improve dramatically by the summer.

Galway could make a fair splash this year in the Championship when they get the Corofin lads back along with what they already have.

Well done to Galway, by far the better team and the 3 point losing margin certainly flattered us, a goal at the end to level the game would have been an injustice.

Alot of talk about the Kerry young guns but it seems Galway have a fair few young players which I haven't seen before and looked very impressive. The Galway number 3 looks like a hell of a player, not sure how long he has been around.

As bad a performance ive seen by us at home in a long time. No confidence on the ball and our kick passing was non existent with all the hand passing across the field.

However it is early in the year and just heard about the young lad in Dingle passing away after playing for his school so it puts things in perspective, RIP.

Very well said mate, very sad the news about Aodhán O' Connor and Amy O' Connor, puts everything in to perspective. Thoughts are with both family's. R.I.P.

RIP to young lad from dingle !!Very Sad

Great win we have been waiting for this for a long time.

Some of the younger players are really stepping up to the mark this year.

should have been a lot more than 3 points in the end.

Great to see a big Galway following down there the bandwagon is starting to roll :-)

Out of curiosity what were the last 2 black cards for (Heaney & Sean Andy)?

Someone said Heaney squirted water out of a water bottle at someone, don't know if this is true or not. Have no idea what Sean Andy did. TV yesterday certainly did not shed any light on it.

Alls well that ends well etc etc however I am pretty sure 3 black cards gets you a suspension so if they were issued in error we should certainly challenge them. No point waiting until a lad is suspended. Now before I am attacked....they may well have been justified. I just didn't see any incident.

Seem to be a bit of a mystery alright. If Heaney did spray water, would a yellow card not suffice? Hardly fair ending a lad's game over something so minor. With regards Sean Andy, he seemed totally stunned when he got his card. Also think the 7 added minutes was a bit mental, and the ref even ended up playing nearly 9 minutes. Thought the ref actually had a very good game and didn't get too many decisions wrong but just thought the black cards and the added on time stood out as strange and unclear. Could well be deserving but just didn't seem like it to me.

Yes Sean Andy looks like the most natural full back ive seen in a long while and not afraid to have the odd burst up the field. Plenty promising signs for Galway,I hope they can progress and break into the top teams as we need another challenger at this stage and ye seem best placed to do so. Hopefully ye can bring that form into croker when the big games come along.

Clifford and O Se have had alot of gametime already in the league so they surely are a big part of the management teams plans for the summer. I was unaware that if this happens they wont be able to play with the u20s.

rule says any player submitted on a matchday list to referee ,
for senior inter county championship game,
will not be able to play in the under 20 championship that year
the under 20 championship is from june to august

Well done to Galway much the better team. As some might know on this I am not a big fan of Fitzmaurice but I think this weekend was tough on him with the death of a pupil in his school so I won't let loose on him this weekend. Some positives for Kerry but the alarming bells are still ringing how soft we are down the middle.

Think that got changed at the weekend, you now need to have got on the field in a senior championship game before you become ineligible for u20. I presume the change will be in place for this year's competition.

They have just changed that rule in this years congress and now an U20 player can be named on a senior panel and once he doesn't play he can play U20.

I found yesterdays game a very strange one to analyse, i didn't think we played that well at all and couldn't win a ball in midfield all day long. Bradshaw had his poorest game all year and all our half back and half forward line struggled to get in on any breaking ball. When i look back on the game i find it hard to pick out too many players that played very well. Brannigan was outstanding Comer did well Sean Kelly did a lot of good work and Kerins and Sean Andy looked very solid and the rest were average enough but probably worked hard enough getting back and that. For a team that are back training since early November we didn't look fit. I really thought Kerry were as poor as iv ever seen them and they have far too many young lads on the team at the same time. We looked like a team that made the journey down the morning of the game and looked a bit stiff and had no energy. Maybe we trained very hard the last two weeks and left it all on the training pitch. A big improvement is needed in the next two games but i think we are well capable of doing so

Thought your number 13 was very good in the first half and expected more from Armstrong when he replaced him. Galway a good team but ye wasted a lot of opportunities towards the end. Disappointed in Shane Walshs performance brilliant player but thought a bit selfish yesterday. Brannigan a joy to watch and your full back line very solid. No idea what the black cards were for and the Sunday game didn't show it. Good luck and hopefully see you later in the year
