need I remind you that fermanagh won the all Ireland junior championship last year...all be it was in the ladies football..but ya know baby steps and all that..... getting back to the original comment on paddy orourke...i can't understand why he would jump out the way he did....meath have some top top players who would grace any team in Ireland....Heslin for example what a player he is..he would walk onto that Dublin starting 15 no bother. abitawit (Fermanagh) - Posts: 274 - 17/02/2018 12:42:10 2077623 Link 1 |

How can you say that ? I heard it myself. It was pure abuse and i know it when i hear it. He got worse abuse than any Kildare player and they certainly weren't being critiqued as you call it!

Another white flag from Meath, there are counties who never stood a chance since 1884 and yet still they try, without complaining. That's his decision and good luck to him, no more hardship! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8561 - 17/02/2018 17:39:16 2077717 Link 3 |
I can confirm that he certainly did get abused, I was at plenty of matches to witness it. A lot of GAA players get abuse that is simply unacceptable.

Agree. We have a few too who have their own idea of 'support'.

Christ very few of us went through our careers without being abused, even at juvenile level where it tends to hurt more, it's not nice but you need to rise above it. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8561 - 17/02/2018 18:05:55 2077724 Link 3 |
And you too boy.but to think he would start in the dublin 15..laughable

To be fair now we don't live in the 'just get on with it!' Type of society anymore. Wasn't orourke threatened to be knifed online a few years ago ? Is that the personal abuse you would have experienced?

ahhh now....the dig in the original comment has clearly been lost on you

I wouldn't repeat some of the things that were said. Yes, we do live in a different society unfortunately. I never said there is any call for abuse and some of it is disgraceful but we all know that the vast majority of these assholes are cowards. And I wouldn't let a coward get the better of me and either would you. It's his decision and hopefully it's the right one for him.

Still wouldn't be easy to rise above it. That level of abuse would affect everyone differently.

It's a win/win/win situation. Paddy O'Rourke, Andy McEntee and Meath's senior inter-county team are all better off with him retired if he feels like that. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 18/02/2018 01:03:56 2077813 Link 1 |
Ha! It was a nice dig but yes lost on the knowledgeable fans;)

Not really interesting at all, glad he left the Meath panel.

Not really he loves the attention and he is getting too much of it.

Paddy O'Rourke has to do what's good for him, and if that means quitting inter-county football then so be it. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13686 - 18/02/2018 16:06:06 2077928 Link 2 |
