Has anyone any update on when the knockout games are going to be played after this weekend?

Haven't heard any fixtures yet. They're probably waiting until Sunday evening again.
I would have thought the hurling quarter final fixtures would be out by now at least.

That's right. They've pushed everything back 1 week to try and avoid midweek games. County senior finals on 21st and 28th now. Will be hoping they don't end as draws or we won't have teams in Leinster. tight schedule!

Tight schedule but probably the correct decision. At least players now know the dates for quarters, semis & finals. Just unlucky the way the leinster club championship draws went this year but a midweek round in end July or early August would have avoided this. But then if there was midweek rounds back then we would be complaining about that. Hard to keep everyone happy!

Actually thought you had said playoff games would be next Wednesday. 1/4 finals are at the weekend 22/23rd

So they've just pushed the county finals out a week with 4 weeks notice, having set them 7 months ago.

What happens to players that may have holidays booked for after the championship? Or that may have had other plans for the weekend after the final, given they were told it would be the previous weekend months ago?

Nonsense Anon.

Anybody who is serious about winning a county title is not booking any holidays in September or October.

Changing fixtures is only an issue in the summer months when people likely have holidays booked.
Given the circumstances nothing could be done at this stage. Fair play to the county board for at least giving a full schedule for the remaining games.

As far as I'm aware circumstances haven't changed at all with regard to the schedule since the start of the year. They might if there ends up being a playoff but otherwise the circumstances aren't going to be any different. If there's issues with the scheduling now then they should have been flagged at the start of the year.

I also don't think it's overly far fetched to imagine lads making plans for the weekend after the county final. If they're serious about winning a county title then they won't have been making plans from the start of July until after the final. The county finals were supposedly set for 7 months until that changed this week. I was one of the ones saying the initial schedule was ridiculous due to the midweek QF but it should have been changed earlier in the year, not a month out.

What a ridiculous statement. If you're thinking like that, you obviously either don't play at a high level or have nobody in your life to consider. We make huge sacrifices all year and like to see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, such as a holiday the week after a final. We also have families who put up with us being gone 4 times a week, so we make promises to them about making it up to them once it's over. So quite often, we book trips away for after championship. Then the county board stroll in and change plans that were set 7 months ago. It would make you want to pack it in when you see how little consideration you're given after years of sacrifices.

Hurling still considered a second class sport by the co board they have changed the hurling final from the date it was originally fixed for and given it to the football it just proves nothing changes in the dark corridors of Cusak park, clubs wanted change as regards the top table and all they got was a game of musical chairs ,
