.So the only reason Donegal came strong was that they had more training done? No chance that it might have been because they sorted themselves out at half time?

For the record it wasn't just the 3rd quarter, there was only two points in it going into injury time.

Look, Donegal are a distance behind this great Dublin team & Bonner is learning about his team with every passing game. However I saw enough last night to convince me that we are on the right path & will be competitive this year which will do me just fine."
Agreed Donegal were excellent in the second half last night. Played some great open expansive football and gave us a rattle.

Im personally pleased the game was tight in stages and tough, a 15 point victory teaches us very little, Donegals performance in the second half last night is great for us. The problems and vulnerabilities Donegal created will be worked on and eliminated.

Every day is a school day.

Was great to see Donegal play open and expansive stuff, cant see them going down on last night performance.

Agree with earlier comments about McBrearty. He is playing some unreal stuff at the moment.
I suppose the concern for Donegal fans is whether he can sustain this high level of form for the whole season...It must be frustrating for him to have scored something close to 30 points over the first 3 league games but still finish on losing side in each game.
Still feel Donegal will be a force later in the season.

John Small did what I would be shouting at any Donegal man to do. Stop the man. Donegal were on a roll a that stage and Ryan was having a major influence. He ceased doing so afterwards.

Happy enough with last night. Good to see the like of Timber, Brennan and Stephen MC Brearty having a good game. More positves than negatives at minute.

That comment is disgraceful & I am embarrased that a Donegal man would make it.

It was a cheap shot against a player who couldn't defend himself against it & has no place in the game.

Disgracefully comment!!! Get down of your high horse. If Donegal were 2 up in an Ulster final and hit a man hard who was having a major influence on the game I would most certainly think right thing to do. If they didn't I would be disappointed.

Genuinely surprised by the quality that Donegal showed honestly thought we would have an easier night, that said that's the sort of outing we need , donegal may lose more games than they win in the short term playing as they are however they will become a better team in the long run , it takes courage to attack and even more to continue to do it if losing

There's a world of difference between stopping a man and a cheap shot.
No place for it.

A couple of points.

1. It wasn't a provincial final.
2. He didn't "hit him hard" he deliberately hit him on the jaw with a leading forearm.

If you can't see the problem with that then ther isn't much I or anyone else can say to you.

I love the way supporters complain about a cheap shot.

I have seen MM many a time hit a man with a fore arm around the head and the solar plexus. Never a word said about it.

I have also seen Aidan o Mahoney punch, kick and mouth at a player for 70 minutes while not playing football at all. Not a word said about it.

At times I think supporters can be selective at what they highlight.

Thought this game was very similar to the quarter final in 2016. Dubs in 3rd gear and could sense they could lift it but like that game Donegal caused huge problems by taking it up the middle at pace. I think Ban should be out at half back or around the middle as he's like a Lee Keegan. He had 4/5 great carries last night. Great to see them recognizing the lack of penetration against Galway and improving on it massively last night. I think we should campaign to go back to the Old Jersey too looks class

As I already said, if you can't see a problem with any of this then I can't help you.

On its own merits, the tackle last night was reckless. We don't know for sure if he was malicious or not in his intent,, but his judgement was not good. I don't think that we should concern ourselves much more about that incident, luckily Ryan McHugh was ok and he got on with things. The ref possibly made a call based on what he saw, which was very little in real time. What can you do about these incidents once the ref makes a judgement? A player is not going to ask a referee to be sent off if the ref misses the action in real time.

On a side issue, the game was played with a good spirit of freedom last night. I hope we see more of it. I do think that McQuillan gifted Rock and the dubs a free towards the end in front of the posts, which is a worrying trend in his calls.

John Small is a fine player. He actually made his debut against Donegal in Croker during a bitterly cold league match a few years back. I remember thinking that Dublin had nothing to worry about replacing Ger Brennan. I rate Small very highly and glad he's playing for his County despite not being as high profile as many of the other Dublin half backs - profiles well deserved I might add. Small however is a player who over steps the mark from time to time and being honest I'd say he knew exactly what he was doing last night. He seems a quiet, modest guy but he takes his hard edge a step too far a few times every year.
