NFL Predictions Competition

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Hi all,

I think we had a predictions competition last year for the NFL across the 4 diviisions. I stand to be corrected but it was something along the lines of 3 points for a win prediction and 5 for a draw prediction?

I wouldn't be in a position to organise and keep track of scores each week as I often travel for work but if someone can it'd be a bit of craic. Maybe the admins could throw in a prize for the winner to donate to a charity of his/her choice!

I would like to take part if there is a competition. Last year was great trying to forecast the match results.

That's right! I forgot there was a Div 1 and Div 2.

If Ollie and the lads could get it going again it'd be great craic!

And for any of you guys who fancy their chances of making a few quid out of it, a club in my own country is running a competition.
The below link, was put onto the Meath page last week

Would you not take the lead here Royaldunne? You spend enough time posting on different threads so surely you would have time to organise this?! :)

No don't have the time, I don't start many threads at all. And mostly post off the old iPhone, as I travel a good bit and then when I get home I have young children, and older ones who need a dad taxi. While I would love to help out in anyway I could, there maybe a week or two that I can't , many posters on here would know I have a young son (1 now) who attends hospital regularly (Mondays usually in crumlin). And I wouldn't like to miss a post and someone looses out.
I did think last year about looking after one of the division but decided against it for those reasons, hopefully next year.
Anyway Ollie knows this competition inside out and besides been the best poster on hs, he is very good at this.

Lads and Lassies me and a few of the lads have ran the competition the past two years. In year one it was myself and Cuderocket. Last year it was a poster from Kildare and another from Longford who helped me out. Sorry Lads I forgot your names. I don't know if I will be in a position to it this year. I will try my best.

What bout last man/woman standing for say first 100 people. Fill in one slot and give prediction and your poster name. Not being policed by any poster but up to posters to be truthful bout their selections and if they are knocked out or not.

Totally understand Ollie, if you want I'll take one of the division if more get involved, just couldn't do them all myself.

Ollie runs everything, quizzes, last man standing, predictor games. Time for him to have a break. I went looking for the Allianz predictor game but no sign of it. I found this instead from Kiltubrid in Leitrim. I used to work with a lad who played for them, sound fella, drove home from Dublin from training. Anyways €14.

Runlastman have a good few last man standing competitions going. We could run one and, maybe wishful thinking have no prize just a bit of banter, and give the proceeds to a good cause.

Could we just set up a facetheball one or I think that's the website. If someone is setting up and running one here is like to join if there's room

Yeah I'm looking into Facetheball at the moment and trying to setup a mini league in it - that would be the easiest way and it's a bit trickier than just the doing the win lose draw predictions.

Alternative option might be to setup each round on SurveyMonkey and just have people submit their predictions through that? Predictions go straight into Excel which makes it pretty easy to formulate points / results and score totals.

No worries GnR, the code to join the mini league is kVO9OcUvqt0O

For the sake of anonymity I've created a profile using my username on here.

You'll just need to create an account on Facetheball then join the overall 2018 Allianz Football League - once you're in that you should see the option to join a mini league.

For anybody not familiar with the scoring it's pretty simple really but a bit harder than just picking a winner in each game - you need to guess the margin of victory and the closer you are to the correct result the more points you score, bonus points for predicting a draw correctly.

All points are automatically updated so takes the work away from Ollie and Cued at least, so the more that join the better - only takes a few minutes to setup a profile.

Good stuff lads, we're up to 6 entries now anyways.

If this doesn't work out we can just blame Ollie and RD for not running it themselves :)
