Galway vs Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

With Galway and Tyrone both being unbeating so be far in 2018. This match could be an interesting one. Tyrone have improved dramatically in attacking with O'Neill coming in as their forward coach. I think the Team and Harte have learned that blanket defense is not the option at all if you want to win more games, Donnelly and Harte both look to be in great shape.
Galway have been doing well bringing in youth to their team, I think that Galway have finally sorted there back three out with Sean Andy O'Cealliagh and Sean Mullkerin coming in.
Galway are missing a number of players from the Corofin team such as Ian Burke, Micheal Lundy, Ronan Steede etc. They also have a number of injuries such as Danny Cummins, Micheal Daly, Gary O'Donnell.
I think it is a joke that the venue was changed to tuam. Whilst the Hurlers are in Salthill. Would have been a great double header.
Going for a Galway win here.
Galway 1+

Yeah looking forward to it and should be tight. A lot of people from Tyrone booked accommodation in Salthill and will have to change their plans which is unfortunate and it would of been a great double header. Tuam isn't a great stadium either but they are the breaks. Just have to get on with it.
I wouldn't take much from the pre season comps-lots of changes and experimentation in both the McKenna and FBD cups.
Galway will be looking to start with a bang as they are back in Div 1 after 7 years I think. With Tyrone playing the Dubs next weekend a win is needed as two losses puts you under series pressure.
Looking forward to seeing the Tyrone team and tactics. Ciaran McLaughlin and Lee Brennan could be in line to start as they have played well with clubs over the last few years.
I think Tyrone will nick it by 3.

As usual you are all over the shop with your preview on every game in the country and especially this one.
Unbeaten so far in 2018? they played three weakened sides in the Fbd league, that's not something to base this game on, How can Galway have finally sorted their full back line by bringing in two young lads from the 21s, They haven't played one serious game yet in the senior ranks and you are saying they are the answer! The game was changed to Tuam because the county board are worried that with all the heavy rain over the last 3 weeks the pitch in Pearse would not be up to two intercounty games back to back, which is a common sense decision.
On the game myself, I think Galway may struggle, still totally unproven in many areas and we will see on team selection, however if we continue to be so inconsistent and players like Conroy, Flynn etc drop in and out of games we will be in for a long long season.

Will you ever stop being so negative. You should give up supporting Galway because you do nothing but complain about them. When they win anything you always have negatives over the positives. If they win Connacht this year you would call it a fluke and say they didn't deserve it, that's the kind of man you are.

This is a very important but difficult game for both teams if they intend to stay in the Division . I see a low scoring game with Tyrone winning by two points. If Tyrone are to make a serious challenge for the league then this is certainly a good test to start with. I would not pay much attention to what has happened so far this year.

I would love to see a Galway win but I think Galway will struggle against a more physical/seasoned Tyrone outfit . It is a Hugh disappointment that this game has been switched from salthill , despite all the spin the real reason this match is switched is MONEY . Galway football need to win over the fans and the double header was a perfect opportunity to grow its fan base.

How do you know its money? That's your opinion. The reality is with all the recent rain Salthill would not be able for 2 games back to back..

Your argument looks like it's blown out of the water. If they are hosting a colleges game then surely it can take two games.
Would of been great to see a double header-promote both games in a football dominant county like Tyrone.

Whats the colleges game been played on Sunday afternoon in Pearse stadium? I'm interested to see the importance of it compared with a national league game v Tyrone?

Tough game to start. Our record V Tyrone is not good. With all the rain lately I don't think a double header was realistic.

How many of those players you named will be first teamers for Galway when they return as i think only Daly,O Donnell were regular starters last year. Salthill in this weather wouldn't be able to host a double header. Galway will need to win at least 3 or their 4 home games to stay up.

SA Kelly and Mulkerins will be great players for Galway. Hopefully straight away but it is a lot to ask of a 2 lads (21&19) that are making their deb

Galway have some top footballers but they also have lads that do it in flashes and disappear in between. Hopefully new coach and the few fresh faces will resolve that.

Galway could win and could get hammered. That's the problem ........ we never know!!!

If Tyrone continue with this dogged, defensive, stop the opposition at all costs mindset they are going nowhere. Until they learn that quick ball into potent, scoring forwards wins games (Canavan, O'Neill, Mulligan etc) and not negative, backwards and sideways passing amongst slobbery, mouthy half backs they will continue to whistle Dixie and get hammered by the likes of Dublin.

MY point is they switched the Galway v Tyrone match using the excuse that pitch could not handle 2 matches. then they fix the college match. so they are money garbing so and soooooo
