I'm a massive fan of TG4 and don't consider them being the reason why the game is fixed for Portlaoise. I wonder if Dublin and Meath reached the final would it still be in Portlaoise? Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1410 - 16/01/2018 14:26:21 2068703 Link 0 |
I doubt it

Just a little thing Athlone to Portlaoise 77 kms Athlone to Navan 107 kms.Wonder where they want the game???? jobber (Westmeath) - Posts: 1416 - 16/01/2018 15:23:35 2068714 Link 0 |
Time wise there is not a whole lot of difference between Portlaoise and Navan to travel to from Athlone. Motorway to Kinnegad which is half an hour then around the same onto Navan.

Ridiculous having this game in O'Moore Park, hopefully Meath and Westmeath fans will vote with their feet and stay away. This really only is the Mickey Mouse cup and surely the best way to get a crowd is toss between the 2 teams for home advantage, suppose common sense was too much to ask though. Seems like both county boards agree with you as they have asked Leinster to change.

If TG4 broadcast it then u can see why it would be in Portlaoise but if like some are saying they are not showing then ridiculous to have in Portlaoise when both sides would prefer Mullingar.

Both managers and county officials want mullingar. I see it as a good alternative, I will go no matter where it is been played.

A ref has been appointed to this game who is very fond of his whistle... I expect a very stop start game with plenty of yellow cards & at least one red card!! Matthew (None) - Posts: 1000 - 16/01/2018 23:03:15 2068780 Link 0 |
Don't expect a free flowing game on Sunday. The referee who has been appointed doesn't like letting a game flow and for any little thing players will be booked so expect a lot of yellow cards!! Matthew (None) - Posts: 1000 - 17/01/2018 09:08:14 2068791 Link 0 |
Some of your brethren haven't stopped crying since '96 about Meath so don't come on here lecturing

It looks like the GAA want to give TG4 the option to televise the match by hosting it in Portlaoise.

Sorry that should read. "Now scheduled " So it's decided. Better to just get on with it, give young mckeever some much needed game time prior to league. We win great, we don't? I'll keep my head down for week :) royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 17/01/2018 13:55:47 2068874 Link 0 |
Cursed the hogan stand calls the Ó Byrne cup final but maybe the powers that be should realise a competition started four days after Christmas day deserves to be "cursed" jobber (Westmeath) - Posts: 1416 - 02/03/2018 23:59:40 2081654 Link 0 |
Doubtful tg4 will take them up on it... Sure play it in Enfield. Handy for everyone. daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 4012 - 03/03/2018 08:56:25 2081659 Link 0 |
