2018 Match Attendance Thread

Must have been a smaller than usual Dubs crowd because the other 3 counties all had a good few thousand there. Dubs might have brought their usual 20k and didn't get the bump to 30-35k for a final that they usually would. I'd say the Leinster match was definitely a factor but a big reason is titles are coming too easy for the Dubs. It would have been a major shock if Galway had pulled off the win. Only Mayo or possibly Kerry based on tradition would worry Dublin fans about a possible defeat these days so only natural that crowds will taper off a bit. Fair play to Galway, what a great showing, hopefully they can become a team to really threaten the Dubs over the coming year.

Are you serious - Armagh outnumbered the rest, yes we had a poorer support than normal but you are misled

Wicklow v Offaly & Carlow v Louth - 4,350

Some amount to empty seats in Castlebar for a game that was supposedly a sellout for weeks. I wonder what the story was there.

Some crowd in Castlebar to be fair for a provincial q/f with Ed Sheeran in Salthill twice over tge weekend. Obviously big home support but bigger Galway support than I expected.

Don't believe the Tullamore attendance at all.

At least 10k there if not more.

I presume a sell out in Omagh for Tyrone v Monaghan.
Wexford v Dublin should be close to 20,000.
Kilkenny Offaly 15,000.
And I'd say the two Munster Hurling Championship games won't be far off 30,000

You were very optimistic there SlipperyDodger, especially about the Leinster Hurling. I though those figures would be a bit bigger myself to be fair. Here are the official attendances for the weekend.

Hurling
Cork Clare 24,490
Limerick Tipp 20,423
Kilkenny Offaly 6,976
Wexford Dublin 10,248

Football
Tipp Waterford 1,658
Fermanagh Armagh 8,421
Clare Limerick 2,304
Tyrone Monaghan 15,029

Hurling

Tipp Cork 22,000
Galway Kilkenny 18,775
Clare Waterford 13,736
Offaly Wexford 6,186

Football
Dublin Wicklow 11,786
Leitrim Roscommon 8,265
Longford Meath 5,591
Down Antrim 5,589
Tipp Cork 3,339

Cork Tipp in hurling never draws less than 30k. Very poor Tipp crowd there. If they don't come out for the Cork game it is a bad sign.

18000 in Galway for the first leinster championship game against Kilkenny. That's a poor crowd in all fairness. RTE were saying Pearse stadium was 'packed'. It didn't looked packed and it wasn't obviously.

Poor enough crowds for most of the football games. Champions League probably affected the Saturday fixtures and I know Tipp and Cork are both poorly supported in the football (the Hurling the next day would also have had a bearing) but 3 and a half thousand for a provincial semi final between 2 large counties is shocking.
