By POR's reckoning, why would anybody bother doing anything, for 99% of the population they have no chance of being the very best at what they do, whats so wrong with being the best you can be? by hard work, dedication and all that you can.

That must have been a punch in the guts for Andy and Co, he is entitled to his opinion on the matter just as much are Mr. O'Rourke is when asked. Nothing wrong in that."
I agree with u lad but I don't know why 2 weeks before champ this has to come up it not adding up to me.it not great mindset from a manager getting a team prepared if I was player I'd b saying let's move on forget this rubbish.just my opinion

Absolutely, it shows a rotten defeatist mentality, that Andy is trying to change. He's trying to change the culture in Meath, and then Paddy comes out with that..

I think that you are over stating the importance of what has been said. Players get on with the job of training and playing and are not influenced by sideshows. Stating that it will effect future players is overstretching it a bit. It's time to move on.

I'd say it will be a mixture players like Cian O'Brien etc will be given game time, is their a need to start biggy keoghan? I personally wouldn't I'd bring them on in second half. But that's just my opinion.

Ok on a entirely different aspect of this.
Should we win who will collect cup? Now obviously everyone will say Brian as HE IS capt. but if this game was played and comp finished when should have been it would be graham. Just something I thought of.
I'll be honest I have too much time on hands after been under the weather and spending Monday night until tue eve in mgar hospital, and now bed ridden for next week with pneumonia (haven't a clue how I got it, but Christ it's some dose ) on what seems like 50 tablets a day, I have too much time to think about trivia things. But one things for sure come hell or high water I'll be in cusack park on Sunday.

Indeed...and if that's the attitude is it any wonder that we appear to have gone soft? Losing massive leads etc

Yeah, its overstating it I suppose but I would see the senior players as setting an example for the lads coming through...anyway, agree- time to move on

Maybe they could both collect it? One hand each to raise the cup. But Brian should make it clear to him when we win Leinster that he will be the one lifting the cup.

Byrne cup or not Meath need to win this and get some momentum before Longford. westmeath will play better against us than they will play in the their first round of championship , the ref will be the usual anti meath but meath should and have to win.
Embarrassing to give up a 10 point lead to them a few years ago - the performance in this game will tell us if we are in shape to beat longford . Up the Royal

We wont see too many from Championship line up for this one. Biggy, Keogan, Menton to name a few i reckon we wont see. Its more like a challenge game with a bit of silver at the end of it at this stage.
RD you defo need to get out more when you get back to yourself haha :-)

Forget about this challenge game fella and get yourself better, in time for championship!

As for the game itself, considering the ridiculous format of the year the GAA set out, we ought to be treating it as a championship game selection and intensity wise you'd imagine. The timing has worked out well for both teams in that regard.

Any word on a team announcement for Sunday? Surely we deserve to know the team a couple of days in advance of the game. So hopefully the team is named asap and this nonsense of namming dummy teams stops.
