I am the First to admit i was wrong..I was extremely Negative about Meath Chances this year but I Think Andy has done a good job in pulling this squad Together with all the lads who are unavailable for What ever reason..I think we could have quite a good year..what that is im not sure at the minute!! But we seem to have options all over the field competition for places and A group of Lads there giving there all..I suppose until a few Games into the League will reveal More!! Captaincy wise Biggie needs to Concentrate on playing Football so I wouldnt make Him Captain..Maybe Menton or Even Conlan!! A win next week would be nice and set up a positive year then down to roscomman and Battle as Much as we can to get a result

I'm picking this team on what I have seen in the last three games not on anything that happened last year.

1.Colgan
2.Moran
3.McGill
4.Lavin
5.Conlon
6.Keoghan
7.O Neill
8.Flanagan
9.Menton
10.Burke
11.Brennan
12.Wallace
13.McMahon
14.Tobin
15.O Reilly

I'd like to see Moran in the corner next to McGill both lads are big strong in the tackle and physical which is what we need in the fullback line.
I'd like to see Keoghan at center back, tell him hold it and let the two young lads do all the running forward.
Looks to be there first choice partnership for this year. Both excellent midfielders with two different sets of attributes.
I said it previously that I don't think Burke is quick enough for corner back but he had a great game today and I needed to find a place and were better than a half forward position playing as a Dooher or Galvin. He most certainly is fit enough. Brennan I think deserves one more start as he was totally lost today. He appears to be way more comfortable on the 40. The other 4 lads have been the best forwards we have had so far in the OBC besides Lenihan who will be coming straight in if any of them don't preform the next day

Burke,Brennan and Wallace as a Half forward line..Come on Burke is No Forward,Galvin and Dooher were well able to score Mickey is Terrified to Shoot so thats Never ever gonna Happen!! Its a Very Small Half Forward Line lacks Physicality,James McEntee is perfect for Wing Half Forward Brennan Deserves another shot at it as Does Joey but not in That Half Forward line..Leave Conlan at 6 Keoghan is well Young enough to "do the running".OReilly has done very little to keep starting!! Base of a decent team and Plenty could come in but I see your Point in Picking it on this year,,

Because Graham Reilly , Cillian OSullivan ,James McEntee, Harry Rooney ,Donal Lenihan 100% Have to start

Conlon wouldn't be a bad idea for captain ..their is a bit of bite about him !

if Gallagher nails down the goalkeepers position i think he could likely be captain ..

From what I can see Andy is operating a rotation policy throughout the OBC and I expect that to coninue next weekend with an eye of course on the Rossies game.

With that in mind the team could be something like this. Menton captain, Flanagan operating as a 3rd midfielder & a 2 man full forward line with Joey floating between half and full forward line.

1. Gallagher
2. Lavin
3. McGill
4. Burke
5. Keoghan
6. Conlan
7. Douglas
8. Menton
9. Rooney
10. Flanagan
11. O' Sullivan
12. James McEntee
13. Joey Wallace
14. Tobin
15. Lenihan

P.S., any word on McKeever??

What is everyone obsession with who is captain? Graham is and will be captain next day out too. So please give it a rest, after obc Andy will make HIS decision, if it's not to be graham, btw did everyone see at end of ft he came out applauding the lads had slaps on backs for all them and was the one along with Andy getting the free takers organised. Anyway if it's not graham for league (which no one knows) then it will be Micky burke that is a fact. Anyone thinking Gallagher is off the mark as he won't be keeper for league.

People are entitled to Give there opinion on who they feel should be captain..What they have to wait until next week to voice it..Your Just annoyed because its Obvious he shouldnt be captain this year and In my opinion a fine player but never should have been captain..He can applaud and slap as many backs as he likes he just doesnt strike me as a leader!! Finally I wouldnt Pick Burke either

5.Keoghan
6.Power
7.Conlon
8.Menton
9.Flanagan
10.J McEntee
11.O'Sullivan
12.Reilly
13.J Wallace
14.Tobin
15.Lenihan

My pick for captain for this year would be Menton.

Our captain Graham could have taken a free in the shoot out even.after he was substituted. Shoot out is extra to extra time making him eligible. ??

Anyone else think its madness to be having next Sundays game in Portlaoise? The older home or away system was much fairer. Bring both teams there will damage attendance rather than help it

Any player who played and wasn't sent off on a black or red card was eligible to take a free at the end but Andy went for players who came on as subs as he felt they wouldn't be as tired.

That's what he said on LMFM afterwards.

Largely agree with this..

Keoghan likes to get involved in the play and push forward, much more suited to wing back.

According to McEntee, he should feature next week.
Rooney only came back in December so fitness wise he is behind.

Going by Andy post match comments, he won't go with the perceived strongest 15.
