Pat seems to be getting a lot of the old brigade back. Are Dub hurling fans optimistic about the season ahead? keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 12/01/2018 17:55:25 2067999 Link 0 |
It's looking very good with the likes of Sutcliffe, Carton, Paul Ryan coming back (and of course Keaney coming out of retirement to add a bit of leadership) Hill16Army (Dublin) - Posts: 88 - 12/01/2018 18:10:44 2068001 Link 0 |
Dublin will be aiming for promotion to Div 1A, along with favourites Galway, and Limerick. They will be competitive in the Leinster SHC round robin with the Cuala players. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1741 - 12/01/2018 18:20:44 2068007 Link 0 |
Carton & Paul Ryan are back? That's good news. I think Keaney is probably well past his best but fantastic player in his day.

Its great to see these players back in the fold, but a lot of them have been out of inter county hurling for 2 years. That's a big gap at this level, and they're not getting any younger. That said it will strengthen the squad. Hopefully the Dubs can reclaim some ground going forward this year. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 1908 - 12/01/2018 20:49:27 2068039 Link 0 |
Woops sorry completely misread what i was reading earlier nothing on Carton or Ryan, got a bit excited there!

They are 2 players I'd like to see back.

Promotion would be good but hugely important 1b is plenty competitive and currently Dublin's level anyway jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 13/01/2018 18:04:59 2068139 Link 1 |
Bringing Sutcliffe back is a no brainer as he is one of the best hurlers in the country. I don't see the older lads like McCaffrey, Kelly, Keaney and Alan Moore getting much game time later on but they will provide plenty of guidance and leadership to the young players. The young players (some were just out of minor) really suffered last year after that mass exodus but most of them are back now and with the Cuala lads still to come in I think they will be hard beaten in the summer. In fairness McCaffrey is only 30 and Kelly is younger again.

Ok, I thought they would be a few years older.

What ever happened to McCrabbe?

He opted out back in 2015 under Cunningham due to work. He's still only 31 but no interest in inter-county hurling anymore afaik. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13707 - 15/01/2018 19:21:34 2068561 Link 2 |
Does he still line out for Craobh Chiarain? A smashing hurler.

Yeah still hurling away. Had one of his best seasons in 2016. Unmarkable at times. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13707 - 17/01/2018 13:09:37 2068860 Link 3 |
31?? Seems like he's been around for ever, awful pity he packed it in, a genuine talent , skill to burn.

Considering their efforts against Galway I'd be very wary of Antrim. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 03/02/2018 09:35:58 2073524 Link 0 |
