I disagree even though since they didn't play each other it's just speculation but I base my opinion on Wexford having the better year. They were the only team to beat Galway in 2017, they achieved promotion from 1b NOT Galway, they beat Kilkenny twice in Nowlan Park, etc.

They beat Galway in Feb or March or whenever it was. Cork won the Munster final!! Not sure how you can compare 1B to winning a Munster title! Cork were also in with a right chance of a final appearance until Cahalane's red card so it's very harsh on them to say a team that peaked early in the year had a better year than them

I don't mean to sound like Cork had a bad year but I just think Wexford's was slightly better. And keep in mind that I was answering a post that said Cork were "WELL AHEAD" of Wexford. I don't believe Cork are "well ahead" of Wexford. Cork are probably 3rd best in Munster after Tipp and Waterford whereas Wexford were second best in Leinster to the eventual champions. I know a lot of people don't like Davy but it shouldn't cloud the year they had.

I take your point. in the general scheme of things Wexford might be slightly happier with their year but if everyones ambitions were equal I think Cork had a better year but that's just my opinion.
Not trying to sound like a pr!ck but going on your logic of Wexford being the second best in Leinster then are Cork not the best in Munster considering they beat Tipp and Waterford?
It's all irrelevant tho really as only one team can win Liam and everyone starts from scratch in 2018

Maybe I'm spoiled by all the years of Cork dominance as I was growing up and hold them to a higher standard than I would other counties. Before KK went on that amazing run under Cody it was Cork that had the most All Ireland's and so I might expect more out of them than a Wexford. While it's true that Cork won Munster, Tipp and Waterford went further and Waterford actually were the ones that knocked Cork out of the Championship that's why I ranked them 3rd in Munster behind Tipp and Waterford. Am I splitting hairs? Yes, but there's not much in it between these teams.

As for 2018 yes they all start from scratch and I can't wait. I want to see if Galway still have the hunger and if Wexford can improve on 2017.

Exciting year ahead no doubt. It'll be interesting to see how the new format effects teams. Pity we will prob only get to see a handful of games tho

Yeah that's a shame but if they televised them all attendance would go to almost nothing during the cold weather. Yeah the new format has me curious too. I'd say a team like Clare would benefit the most as they have a lot of guys retiring and their replacements might need plenty of matches to blend in with each other.

Got to meet a few players and get pics with the McCarthy Cup out here in NYC last couple of nights. Great ambassadors to the county and game. Best of luck in 2018 lads.
