A Fabulous Weekend of Club Football

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

What a fabulous weekend of club football.

Starting last night in Omagh and continuing today with a great win for Rathnew & great tussles all over Ireland it seems that club football is now the heart & soul of Gaelic games.

There's definitely a quality that the club game captures that county struggles to tap into

, Based on latest club results should be a Wicklow versus Derry All Ireland final.
Novel pairing

Oh please I thaught it was Valentine's day with all these romantic dreamers in here.
I'm more of a lover of quality myself.
boggy heavy winter pitches are a great equalizer and lead to dour tighter matches.
I myself would rather see good football played as a neutral spectator over a dour tight game regardless of the scoreline or winning margin.

Can we scrap the county football and make it all about the club? A premier league of the 20 best club teams in the country would be excellent.

The cream still rises to the top regardless of the weather conditions, which means you still get good provincial pairings/AI semifinal and final match ups

Wow brilliant result for Rathnew, congrats.

First time in beards we haven't had a team in the latter stages of football championship, good news for the county in terms of rest, prep, strength and conditioning work early doors.

Haha what would we be left with every week then a mix of all out brawls with teams being reduced to 10 players each meets ballyraget celebrations meets games having players sent off before the ball is thrown in.
some people are fantasists on here, a couple of close games and club is the be all and end all now

You get plenty of one sided games then as whoever has survived winter pitches collide in croke park on spring good ground and plenty of mismatches of finals owing to the gulf in ability, not always the cream at all face off.

Haha I never thought I'd see a Mayo person wanting Dermo "on" a pitch. ;)

And there was me thinking you were a GAA man hill. In truth you are a Dublin supporter only & the rest counts for nothing.

Sad really, you are missing out on so much.
