Stephen Cluxton.

Just two points on all this.

1. Kick-Outs 1st Half All-Ireland

People seem to think Cluxton has no brain and simply kept going long, and losing the kick outs, till Jayo came in. I would say, knowing his normal variety in kickouts, he was told to keep going long till told otherwise. Jayo coming in was his signal to be allowed to mix and match as he likes.

Poeple really think Cluxton cannot see that the long kick outs were been lost.

2. The Game Chaning Kick Out

I have never seen one kick out change a teams tactics as Clucko did in the Semi. Remember in the build up to this game many thought Tyrone would rattle the Dubs, even win, and that they would have success during the spells they put the press on Dublin's Kick Outs.

First Dublin kickout, Tyrone press.......and Clucko goes long to Scully on the TYRONE 65M line and bang point Dublin.

No more press from Tyrone.

I really have difficulty trying to figure out that for the last 4 years people cannot see him as the best goalkeeper in Ireland.

Just remember that this was the year that the captain of a team that;

Broke the unbeaten record that was held for nearly a hundred years

Broke the all time appearance's record

The first player to captain his team to 3 in a row

Doesn't win an all star

Shame on everyone who can't stand Dublin or a man who doesn't play the media game.

Nothing in that list is criteria for winning an all star.
Should Brian Fenton get one cos he still hasn't lost a championship game?
Had Dublin lost the final then Cluxton's kickouts in the first half would have been held up as one of the main reasons for them losing.
The main arguements for giving him an all star are not performance related but stuff for the record books.
Why not call for Connolly to get one as he's the most talented footballer in the country?

All of these points are true but none of them have any bearing on whether Cluxton should have won an allstar. Personally I would have given it to Cluxton but you could readily have given it to either. Clarke is an outstanding shot stopper, the best in the game by a long way imo. Cluxton is clearly a terrific kicker of the ball and has changed the view of what a goalkeeper can contribute to a team. The mass hysteria about his non selection is way over the top, two outstanding goalkeepers either of whom would have been a worthy winner.
